Messi will have one more chance, in Qatar 2022, to win the World Cup.
Due to an inflamed Achilles tendon, Lionel Messi missed his club team Paris Saint-2-1 Germain’s victory over Lorient on Sunday. The injury scare came for the Argentina captain less than two weeks before the start of the World Cup 2022.
On Saturday, PSG sent a statement to their website. “Leo Messi will remain in treatment for an inflamed Achilles tendon as a precautionary measure. He will resume training next week,”
In a news conference on Friday, PSG manager Christophe Galtier stated that he anticipates Messi to play in PSG’s final league match before the World Cup break on November 13 against Auxerre.
Argentina is already concerned about the health of Paulo Dybala and Angel di Maria, so Messi’s inflamed tendon will raise additional concerns there.
“Injuries are a worry,” In an interview appearance in October, Messi stated. “This is a different World Cup, which is played at a different time of the year to previous tournaments and it’s so imminent any little thing that happens to you can force you out. With what happened to Dybala and Di Maria, the truth is that personally you worry and you’re more afraid when you see those sort of things.”
On November 22, Argentina takes on Saudi Arabia in the first match of their World Cup campaign.
Messi will have one more chance, in Qatar 2022, to win the World Cup. The nation’s hopes are fully focused on him to win Argentina’s first World Cup since 1986. His first prize with Argentina was last year’s Copa America victory.
With 12 goals and 14 assists in all competitions, Messi appears to be back to his imperious best.
Timo Werner of Germany and Ben Chilwell of England were the most recent players to be removed from the World Cup due to injuries last week.
