PLDT lowers Galeries and loses money

Nov 10, 2023

MANILA, Philippines – In the president Volleyball League The second benefit All-Filipino Conference elimination matches on Thursday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig, PLDT overcame a significant first set scare before dominating Galeries Tower, 29 to 27, 25 to 14, 25 to 18, and extending its winning streak to five.

The High Speed hitters never gave up and used their expertise and composure to overcome the challenge and take a temporary hold of second place at 5 to 1. However, mistakes and mishits actually allowed the Highrisers to take a 27 to 26 lead in the first frame behind hits from Andrea Marzan and Roma Joy Doromal.

After putting the pressure back on the Highrisers with an off-the-block hit, Erika Santos forced another deuce, forcing Raprap Aguilar to give up the next point in a poorly executed attack. Fiola Ceballos took the cue and crushed a shot off a broken play to frustrate Galeries Tower and save the set for PLDT.

Galeries suffered another loss, this time to PLDT, which was their second straight loss following a loss to F2 Logistics. The team faced more difficulties as the game ended in a 0–6 loss to Gerflor. Galeries’ campaign got off to a rough start as they lost 10-25, 16-25, and 14-25 to F2 Logistics in their last match.

With their domination in the second set, PLDT defeated Galeries. PLDT’s lead was further cemented with a noteworthy 7-0 run in the third session, which turned an 11-10 lead into a dominant 18-10 lead and sealed another easy victory.

The High-Speed Hitters will face the Chery Tiggo Crossovers on Saturday in a match that offers them a shot at atonement and a chance to make a comeback in the league.

Among the standout performances of the game was Alyssa Santos, who led PLDT with 17 points and demonstrated her skill with 15 effective assaults. Mika Reyes and Savannah Davison each scored six points, and Rachel Austero, who scored seven points, effectively filled in for Dell Palomata, who was unable to play because of load management.

With twenty-one outstanding digs, Kath Arado played a crucial part that demonstrated her defensive prowess. The team’s plays were masterfully directed by Rhea Dimaculangan, who finished the game with sixteen outstanding sets.

Despite Galeries’ difficulties, the league provides lots of chances for development and recuperation. The team’s fortitude will be put to the test in the next games, giving them an opportunity to demonstrate their tenacity and capacity to overcome hardship.

The Highrisers, who will attempt to win the inaugural contest when they play the Nxled Chameleons on Thursday at the Filoil EcoOil the Centre, were led by Audrey the Paran with five points and Dimdim Pacres with six for Galeries, while they also drew a total of nine markers from Doromal. Marzan scored eleven points for Galeries.
