MANILA, Philippines – Nobody else but three-time MVP of the Premier Volleyball League Tots Carlos is writing a new story.

After captivating viewers at home with her skills, Carlos is now aiming for a worldwide platform as she enters the Korean V-League Women’s Asian Quota Draft of 2024.

In the 36-player pool that KOVO has revealed, Carlos is one of three Filipina talents included alongside well-known names like MJ Phillips of Petro Gazz and Mylene Paat of Chery Tiggo.

If all goes well and her name is called, this project will be a turning point in Carlos’s remarkable career and her first step onto the global stage.

As attention is drawn to Carlos’ audacious jump, it is worthwhile to reexamine the experiences of her fellow citizens.

A PVL Best Middle Blocker, Phillips made headlines for the Gwangju AI Peppers last season as the fifth overall selection.

Even though the squad had a difficult season in 2023 to 24, Phillips’ unwavering spirit persisted, which helped to prepare the ground for her eventual departure at the end of the tournament.

Iris Tolenada, Majoy Baron, Jia De Guzman, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, and Paat—all formidable players in her own right—were all passed over for the draft last year.

Despite the setback, Paat keeps blazing her way, currently competing against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

Battles at home continue even in the midst of the maelstrom of foreign ambitions.

Champions in their own right, Carlos and Paat are presently leading their respective teams to the Premier Volleyball League semifinals.

With their sights set on winning championships, the Cool Smashers and the Crossovers, driven by the tenacity of their great players, find themselves on the verge of success.

As Phillips gets ready to go back into battle with the Petro Gazz Angels later in the conference, she will be heading back to familiar territory.

Equipped with knowledge gained from previous undertakings, Phillips is unwavering in her resolve to lead her group to unprecedented levels of achievement.

Todd Carlos is a 2024 KOVO Draft participant.

Tots Carlos, the three-time MVP of the Premier Volleyball League, is ready to take a big risk by entering international competition. Carlos’ name has been added to the pool of 36 players revealed by KOVO, joining the ranks of two other strong Filipina spikers: Mylene Paat of Chery Tiggo and MJ Phillips of Petro Gazz, in the 2024 Korean V-League Women’s Asian Quota Draft.

If chosen, this offers Carlos a once-in-a-lifetime chance to show off her skills on a worldwide platform. With the possibility of representing her nation abroad, the Creamline star—who is well-known for her skill on the court—is about to embark on a new chapter in her career.

Notably, Phillips finds herself in familiar surroundings since she was previously drafted by the Gwangju AI Peppers. Even though the squad didn’t do well the season before, Phillips’ draft choice was a big turning point in her career. But as luck would have it, her trip may take her back to well-known territory, and excitement is building for her possible reunion with the Angels in the next All-Filipino Conference of the Premier Volleyball League.

On the other hand, those who were not selected in the previous round, such as Paat, Majoy Baron, Jia De Guzman, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, and Iris Tolenada, were disappointed. However, they continue to push for greatness in their own teams with unflinching tenacity and passion.

Among the talented candidates in the draft are stars from nearby countries, such as Megawati Pertiwi from Indonesia and Pornpun Guedpard from Thailand. Guedpard caused a stir when he was selected first overall by Hwaseong IBK in the previous year’s draft, demonstrating the Korean V-League’s appeal on a global scale.

This voyage is being undertaken by Carlos, Paat, and Phillips with the hopes and dreams of Filipino volleyball aficionados in tow. In addition to representing personal success, their presence in the draft is evidence of the rising international recognition of Philippine volleyball.

One thing is clear: their love of the game will continue to inspire future generations as the excitement grows and the countdown to the draft approaches.
