LONDON, England – The last day of the season will determine where the trophy ends up, with one game remaining in the Premier League title race this year.
With Tuesday’s 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City moves two points behind Pep Guardiola’s club going into the last round of games, but they are still in the running to win the championship.
In the end, City has the advantage heading into Sunday’s matches, which all begin at the same time thanks to their two-point lead.
We need to defeat Everton at Emirates Stadium to get enough points to go above City and have any hope of winning the table. Any other outcome is inadequate.
If we were to do that, we would need Manchester City to lose to the Hammers.
If we were to win and City were to lose, we would be the winners. If City only manages a draw, the two clubs will be tied with 89 points, but our greater goal differential will win us the match.
But regardless of the outcome on championship day, City will be the winners if they defeat West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.
Goal differentials or head-to-head records are no longer likely to determine the winner. Guardiola’s team will not be able to draw even with us on goal differential if City loses the points needed to offer us a chance at glory.
More for this football season:
Everyone at the club is eagerly preparing for Sunday’s encounter against Everton as the Premier League title battle enters its last day.
On Monday, May 20, commencing at 5 p.m., we will celebrate if we succeed and win the Premier League title on that day with an open-top bus parade through the streets of Islington.
The proposed bus procession will begin and end at Emirates Stadium. It will pass by the Town Hall on Upper Street in Islington, where the Mayor of Islington and prominent members of the community will be present for a private civic reception.
