Golden Boy Fight Night will return to its normal home at the Fantasy Springs in Indio, California, on Thursday, July 28, with Jousce Gonzalez and Manuel Flores sharing the headliner responsibilities in different bouts.
In an eight-round fight, “Tito” Gonzalez (12-0-1, 11 KO), a 27-year-old lightweight who fought on the April 21 Fight Night event, will face Jose Angulo (14-2, 7 KO).
In an eight-round bantamweight bout, “Gucci Manny” Flores (12-0, 9 KO) will face Daniel Mocada (15-6-2, 5 KO).
The remainder of the card will be revealed soon, and as always, the fights will be streamed live on DAZN and, if you don’t have DAZN, for free on Golden Boy’s YouTube.
“I’m ready to get back in the ring and show everyone why I am ready for bigger fights,’ Gonzalez remarked. “I want the fast track to a world title!”
“I’m fighting for everyone coming out of the Coachella Valley,” Flores explained. “Don’t ever let someone tell you that ‘can’t do it.’ You can do whatever it is you want to do as long as you believe in yourself. No matter where you come from, if you are going to be great no one is gonna stop that!”
The shows are seldom very high-profile, but as we often remark, they have a rather high connect rate for simply being a fun, fast-paced night of boxing.
Jousce “Tito” Gonzalez
Jousce “Tito” Gonzalez was born in Southern California into a boxing family. Gonzalez’s two brothers are also competitive boxers who learned the ropes from his trainer and father, Jose, and his younger sister, Jajaira Gonzalez, is an Olympic fighter for Team USA.
Gonzalez began his professional boxing career in 2016 against Noe Munoz Perez at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, California, where he won by knocking Perez out in the second round. Gonzalez went on to knock out his next two opponents, David Montes and Jordan Alvarado, that year.
Throughout 2017, Gonzalez sparred against Los Angeles rivals such as Emmanuel Valadez, Daniel Bastien, and Ricardo Alan Fernandez, knocking them all out with match-winning knockouts.
On March 16, 2018, Gonzalez fought as an unbeaten junior lightweight against Jose Antonio Martinez in a six-round bout that served as his maiden fight as an official Golden Boy fighter. Gonzalez continued his knockout run on May 23, 2018, as he defeated Juan Sandoval in the main fight of the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation event.
Gonzales returned to the ring months earlier than doctors projected after undergoing surgery for a damaged meniscus. Gonzales faced Ivan Delgado in Costa Mesa, California, in October of 2018, and the fight ended in a majority draw after six rounds of rugged junior lightweight combat.
Gonzalez’s next fight will be on July 13, 2019 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, against Mexican Jorge Padron.
