Former PBA MVP believes the MPBL title will be the pinnacle of his long career. Arwind Santos considered winning an MPBL championship in his first season with the Pampanga Giant Lanterns a blessing.

As he puts it, the opportunity to win a title in another league after a lengthy and successful career in the PBA is unusual.

Arwind is interested in a PBA-MPBL double. “Not all players are given this opportunity. And I was given the opportunity to join a strong team like the Pampanga Lanterns,” said the seasoned player who was born in Lubao.

“In fact, even without me, they can be champions.”

However, the former PBA MVP will have a chance to make history when the Lanterns face the Bacoor Strikers in the MPBL National finals, which begin on Saturday.

Santos joined Pampanga in the middle of the season, bringing another devastating weapon to a squad that already included Balti Baltazar, Encho Serrano, Archie Concepcion, Louie Sangalang, and JB Bahio.

Santos, a nine-time PBA champion with San Miguel, compared his role with the Lanterns, who are coached by his mentor, Pampanga Governors Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda, to that of a sniper.

“It’s really like a deadly weapon. I just added materials,” he went on to say. “I’m just like a (sniper) scope, it’s like teaching how to defeat the enemy.”

His lengthy and prosperous professional path while playing for the PBA makes it, in terms of his remarks, unusual for him to obtain a championship in a different league.

However, when the one that powers the Lanterns and Bacoor Strikers square off against each other in the MPBL National championship beginning on Saturday, both the former and the current PBA MVP will be presented with an opportunity to make historical events.

From the seventeenth throughout the league’s campaign, Santos became part of Pampanga, giving an even more potent instrument of warfare to a team the fact that had previously acquired young athletes like JB Bahio, Archie Concepcion, Balti Baltazar, Encho Serrano, in addition to Louie Sangalang.
