The return of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson gave the TNT Tropang 5G another reason to celebrate as the defending champions overwhelmed the Macau Black Bears, 142-87, in a dominant PBA Governors’ Cup performance.

Hollis-Jefferson made an impressive return to competitive action after a lengthy absence caused by an Achilles tendon injury. His comeback provided TNT with a timely boost, while the team’s commanding victory reinforced its position as a serious contender heading into the crucial stretch of the elimination round.

The Tropang 5G controlled the contest with a combination of efficient shooting, balanced scoring and strong contributions from their local players. By the final buzzer, they had secured a 55-point triumph that highlighted their offensive firepower and the potential impact of having their trusted import back in the lineup.

For TNT, the result was about more than adding another victory. It was also an encouraging indication that the team could regain its championship rhythm with Hollis-Jefferson available again.

Hollis-Jefferson returns to action

Hollis-Jefferson’s comeback was an important development for TNT after the injury interrupted his basketball career and kept him away from competition for months.

The versatile import suffered the Achilles injury while representing Meralco in an East Asia Super League assignment in December 2025. His recovery required patience, rehabilitation and careful preparation before he could return to the demands of professional basketball.

Against Macau, Hollis-Jefferson showed that he could immediately contribute to TNT’s attack. He registered 22 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals in slightly more than 22 minutes on the floor.

His numbers reflected the different ways he could help the team. Beyond scoring, Hollis-Jefferson contributed as a playmaker, created opportunities for teammates and applied defensive pressure when needed.

His familiarity with TNT’s system also offered an advantage. Rather than having to learn an entirely new role, he could focus on regaining his timing and conditioning while working alongside players he already knew.

Although his return was encouraging, the team will still need to manage his workload carefully as he builds toward full fitness. His long-term value to TNT will depend on his ability to remain healthy and contribute consistently throughout the remainder of the conference.

Oftana headlines balanced TNT attack

While Hollis-Jefferson’s comeback attracted much of the attention, Calvin Oftana delivered the biggest scoring performance for the Tropang 5G.

Oftana finished with 28 points after converting 11 of his 14 field-goal attempts. He also connected on five three-pointers, helping TNT maintain its offensive momentum and keep Macau from mounting a serious challenge.

Jio Jalalon provided another outstanding contribution, recording 11 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists to complete a triple-double. His performance demonstrated how TNT could generate production through different aspects of the game instead of depending exclusively on its primary scorer.

Poy Erram added 15 points, while Jordan Heading contributed 11. Their efforts helped create a balanced attack that repeatedly challenged Macau’s defense.

The distribution of scoring was particularly encouraging for TNT. With several players capable of making an impact, opposing teams will have more threats to consider when preparing to face the defending champions.

That depth could become an important advantage as the competition intensifies. Hollis-Jefferson’s return adds another offensive option without diminishing the contributions of the players who helped keep TNT competitive during his absence.

Macau struggles to contain the champions

The Black Bears were unable to match TNT’s offensive output, leaving them with little opportunity to recover as the deficit continued to grow.

Oscar Lopez led Macau with 43 points and 10 rebounds, producing an impressive individual performance despite the team’s heavy defeat. However, his scoring could not compensate for the difference in production between the two squads.

TNT’s offensive execution proved too difficult to contain. The Tropang 5G consistently found scoring opportunities and maintained enough pressure to prevent Macau from making the game competitive.

The final 55-point margin also established a new franchise record for TNT’s biggest winning margin. It was a statement performance from a team looking to build momentum as the race for playoff positioning continued.

A timely boost for TNT’s title ambitions

The victory improved TNT’s record to 7-4 in Group A of the Governors’ Cup, keeping the team firmly involved in the fight for a quarterfinal berth.

More importantly, the Tropang 5G can now begin integrating Hollis-Jefferson back into their rotation while continuing to rely on the local players who have helped carry the load.

His experience, versatility and ability to influence games on both ends of the floor could prove valuable during the postseason. However, TNT must remain focused on consistency rather than allowing one dominant result to create complacency.

The defending champions still face the challenge of maintaining their form against stronger opponents and ensuring that their returning import continues to progress physically.

For Hollis-Jefferson, the game marked a welcome return after months of recovery. For TNT, it offered a glimpse of what the team could accomplish with its key reinforcement back in action.

The emphatic win over Macau gave the Tropang 5G momentum at an important stage of the conference—and made Hollis-Jefferson’s comeback even more memorable.
