With three games left on the San Miguel team’s PBA On Tour schedule, Pao Javelona was added to the lineup.

The Beermen chose the 30-year-old guard because their lack of veterans Chris Ross, Terrence Romeo, and Simon Enciso left a need in their backcourt.

Javelona got his San Miguel start in a 111-74 victory over TNT.

Given that Javelona had only participated in one practice with the club, Coach Jorge Gallent described his final stat line of nine points, three rebounds, and three assists as respectable.

The good news is that Javelona just joined the team last Thursday, despite barely practicing; he played quite well, according to Gallent.

After acquiring Marvin Lee and Jayvee Dela Cruz as point guards in the preseason, the Beermen selected Javelona.

Additionally, Gallent is all praise for the former National University stalwart.

The last player to join the San Miguel roster is Javelona, who has previously played for NorthPort, Terrafirma, and Alab Pilipinas, according to Gallent.

The Beermen’s final two games were against undefeated Magnolia and Terrafirma after they ended a five-game losing streak in the preseason to raise their record to 3-6.

While, Jolo Mendoza acknowledged that his time with Converge in the PBA On Tour has helped him gain confidence as he anticipates participating in the upcoming rookie draft.

Mendoza exploded for 26 points on Friday night in the FiberXers’ 104-90 victory over the Phoenix Fuel Masters at the Ynares Sports Arena, providing a taste of what he is capable of.

When Converge finally turned the game around after trailing for the most of the opening quarter, Mendoza was 7-of-12 from three-point range and had 12 points in the second period alone.

However, he minimized his best preseason performance so far, emphasizing that one game does not constitute his entire playing career.

He is now prepared to take on the toughest test of his professional basketball career.
