MANILA, Philippines – Eager to make an immediate impact in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), expansion franchise Capital1 Solar Energy will conduct a two-day tryout at San Sebastian College-Recoletos.

Multi-titled mentor Roger Gorayeb, appointed by team owners and sisters Milka and Mandy Romero to spearhead the Power Spikers, will lead the tryouts with his capable staff.
Close to 100 players from various clubs, colleges and universities have signed up to participate, eagerly anticipating the chance to display their skills and potentially gain a coveted spot on the PVL’s newest squad.

Gorayeb and his staff aim to assemble a competitive roster capable of making some noise in Capital1’s debut conference. Given the limited preparation time, finding players with solid fundamentals and experience playing at a high level will be key.

Both Milka and Mandy Romero are thrilled about their maiden foray into sports team ownership, though aware of the challenges awaiting an expansion club.

Milka previously served as co-captain of the Ateneo de Manila University football team, while Mandy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University and practiced Muay Thai. Their diverse backgrounds should help navigate the rigors of managing a professional volleyball franchise.

As newcomers to the PVL scene, Capital1 will need to carefully lay the groundwork on and off the court before contending with the league’s powerhouse squads.
