MANILA, Philippines – A young volleyball prodigy called Fifi Sharma made an enduring impression during her Premier Volleyball League debut in the center of the competitive arena at the SMART Araneta Coliseum. The 5-foot-11 middle blocker showed off her tremendous talent and tenacity as she entered the spotlight, demonstrating her incredible potential and destiny for greatness.
In her first-ever competitive encounter, Sharma seized the spotlight under the banner of Akari. It was an exciting game against the tough F2 Logistics team, one that would finally test her limitations and reveal her true ability.
Sharma provided the finishing touches in the pivotal fifth set, shocking the fans. Sharma helped the Chargers defeat F2 Logistics in an incredible 21 to 25, 25 to 20, 27 to 25, 19 to 25, and 15 to 8 triumph with a strong block against the Cargo Movers’ premier player, Myla Pablo, and a fantastic ace.
Sharma’s debut performance was nothing short of outstanding, scoring 13 points overall and adding five huge blocks that made a big difference in her team’s victory. The Chargers won their first game in the 2023 Second All-Filipino Conference thanks in large part to Sharma’s outstanding performance.
Sharma had experience in the spotlight despite this being her first season in the professional league. Her collegiate UAAP career began at De La Salle University, where she played for the Lady Spikers in Seasons 82, 84, and 85. The last two seasons were especially fruitful, bringing about delicious retribution against National University and historic victories.
Prior to this season, Akari had a history of underwhelming league performances, frequently finishing in last place. Sharma’s entrance, though, appeared to give the group a fresh sense of direction and resolve.
Sharma’s first match saw her play well-known opponents on the other side of the court, which only served to highlight how impressive her debut was. The roster of F2 Logistics included nine former Lady Spikers, including Mars Alba and Jolina Dela Cruz, who played alongside Sharma at La Salle.
To support her team’s success was her primary driving force, no doubt. Sharma was motivated by her desire to help her team succeed to the extent that she gave all throughout practice and showed up each day.
