Tottenham’s trajectory win over Fulham – Match Report

Sep 7, 2022

On the latest matchday of Tottenham Spurs they left the opposing team Fulham with a 2-1.

Spurs were in complete control in the first half and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s opener was the least they deserved for their supremacy before Harry Kane doubled the lead after half time, becoming the third highest scorer in PL history.

Aleksandar Mitrovic’s sixth goal of the season late on to flatter Fulham but Tottenham’s haul 14 points from their first six matches. It is also their best joint to commence the campaign at this stage. Antonio Conte led Spurs into the Champions League with a rush during the last season and his win stretched their run of the league games without loss to 12 matches.

Whose side peppered Fulham, Conte had 23 shots including 10 on target. He shared that he liked the performance and found the situation they needed to improve.

After Son Heung-min bent a cross past Leno, the Spurs had the ball in the net but the ball was drawn off, which was an early warning for Fulham and it already had the look of a long afternoon for the promoted visitors.

Swarming all over, their opponents, Richalison, on his first start for the club, pulled the back for Son but his fierce strike was deflected to safety. A frustrating start to the season for the South Korean continued, previous year’s joint top scorer in the league who is still waiting for his first goal of the current campaign.

After Kane chipped the ball through him, Son’s luck was out. However, Spurs kept the pressure on and were rewarded with the breakthrough before half time with Hojbjerg playing the one-two together with Richarlison.

Tottenham then missed another chance four minutes into the second half with Eric Dier firing over the bar.

Mitrovic had been kept quiet in the first half after his big productive first month back in the Premier League. However, he almost snatched an equalizer when his deflected shot forced Hugo Lloris to palm the ball around a post.

The winger Willian, a former Arsenal, was given a suitably frosty reception from the home fans after handing his Fulham start on the hour mark alongside Dan James.

With Sessegnon setting up Kane for a close-range goal, Spurs’ second goal finally arrived which was awarded despite a tight VAR check for offside. The striker’s 188th Premier League goal moved him past Andy Cole in the history books.

Fulham were not finished though, and Mitrovic gave them hope after cutting inside the area and striking a shot past Lloris.

Richarlison was renowned after sliding the ball home in the 90th minute. However, a VAR ruling made his joy short-lived. Spurs then had to settle for a one-goal margin victory that did not really do them justice.
