MANCHESTER, England – In an effort to sign Toni Kroos in the summer, Manchester City is prepared to make the sensational midfielder from Real Madrid an attractive contract offer.

Manchester City is keeping an eye on Toni Kroos since the midfielder has been given priority by the reigning champions as part of their summer reorganization.

At the end of the current season, Kroos’ current contract will expire, but he isn’t in a rush to make a choice. He occupies a significant position in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans, and a new contract may be on the horizon.

However, the 32-year-old hasn’t made a commitment to stay, and he might look at other opportunities now that he’ll be free to strike up deals with other teams in January. In order to take advantage of his current contractual situation, City wants to reunite him with Pep Guardiola.

To hasten the deal, the English champions are prepared to give him a significant pay raise. If he chooses not to renew his relationship with Madrid, Kroos could earn a staggering €14 million a year, up from his present salary of €9 million.

Ilkay Gundogan is in the final year of his deal with City, thus it is very possible that he will leave the team in the summer of 2019. Toni might be the perfect choice for the English giants because they would need someone extremely large to fill his hole.

The German midfielder knows how Guardiola thinks because he has already played under his instruction, and he has even publicly lauded the Spanish coach.

This season, City has had trouble as opponents like Brentford have easily defeated them. They’ll be looking at some prospective additions for the team next summer, and it would be smart business to sign Kroos for nothing.

In order to replace their aging midfield, Real Madrid signed Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga, but Kroos has remained a mainstay in the starting lineup. Although Kroos underlined his intention to hang up his boots in Madrid, surprises are inevitable in football.

Erling Haaland’s addition to City’s ranks this summer helped them reshape their team, and it appears that adding Kroos next summer will help them achieve their goal.

Looking Back at 2020 – Kroos Almost Signed with Man U

Toni Kroos, a star for Real Madrid in 2020, had then admitted that he came close to joining Manchester United in 2014, just before relocating to the Spanish capital.

Soon after the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Kroos transferred from Bayern Munich to Los Blancos for a rumored sum of around £20 million.

He said he almost ended up in Manchester in an interview:

“David Moyes had visited me, and the deal was essentially finalized.

“However, after Louis van Gaal was hired and Moyes was fired, things became more difficult.

“I didn’t hear anything from United for a long time and started having reservations. Louis wanted time to construct his own idea.

“Carlo Ancelotti called, the World Cup started, and that was it,”

Before the end of his first season, in April 2014, Moyes was fired after the Red Devils failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

In command of the Netherlands during the World Cup, Van Gaal then assumed control of United.

The Red Devils won the FA Cup with the Dutchman, along with the UEFA Europa League and League Cup under his successor Jose Mourinho, but Kroos has also contributed to the Santiago Bernabeu team’s victories in La Liga and three UEFA Champions League championships.

Michael Carrick, who turned 33 in the summer of 2014, would have made a great long-term successor for the 30-year-old and a fantastic addition to United.

Kroos is a smart athlete with a wide passing range and excellent delivery.

Verdict

Man U fanatics,  high rollers, punters, and the like better keep braced as the fog settles. Once Kroos is actually signed and on the field playing in Man U colors, then it is for real.

According to some, the transfer is rather unnecessary but then again Ten Hag is a man with many tricks up his sleeve. Nonetheless Kroos may possibly be a good addition to the team.
