MANCHESTER, England – Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, just extended his employment with the team for an additional two years, keeping him there through 2025.
51-year-old Guardiola has spent the last six years at Etihad Stadium where he has won 11 trophies, including four Premier League championships.
Guardiola, a Spaniard, remarked, “I cannot be in a better place. I felt something unique being here from day one.
I am overjoyed to be committing to Manchester City for an additional two years.
Added him: “I am pleased and comfortable, and I have everything I need to accomplish my job as best as I can. I can’t thank everyone at the club enough for their trust.
“Because this club is so stable, I am confident that the upcoming chapter will be fantastic for the upcoming ten years. It happened over the last ten years, and it will happen in the upcoming ten years.
“I still feel like there’s more we can accomplish together, which is why I want to stick around and keep going for titles,” the speaker said.
City, the current Premier League winners, are currently second in the standings this season, five points behind Arsenal, and will play RB Leipzig in the round of 16 of the Champions League in February.
Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the chairman, expressed his “pleasure” on extending Guardiola’s contract.
The success and foundation of this organization have already benefited greatly from his contributions, and Al Mubarak remarked, “It’s fascinating to consider what can be possible given the drive, desire, and passion that he clearly still has.”
“Under his extremely remarkable leadership, our first team has achieved so much while playing and consistently developing a city style of football that is appreciated throughout the world.
I am excited about what lies ahead, like every City supporter.”
Before taking over as manager of City in 2016, Guardiola enjoyed successful tenures at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
He has won 14 trophies in four years for Barcelona, including three La Liga championships and two Champions Leagues, making him the club’s most successful manager. At Bayern, he later won three straight Bundesliga championships.
In addition, Khaldoon never shoved me, said Guardiola.
“He never said, ‘Pep you have to do it,'” Pep said. It is an illustration of how we have been from the beginning and shows how much he respects me.
He expresses his perspective, I express mine, and everyone then cooperates in the manner each individual feels is appropriate for the success of the club and the entire organization, from the top to the lowest.
“Recently, we made the decision, ‘OK, we’ll do it.’ After consulting with the family, I decided it was the right course of action.
