LONDON, England – According to Adrian Clarke, the new forward for the Blues has the speed, strength, and finishing instinct to succeed at Stamford Bridge. Adrian Clarke examines the impact that summer signings will have at their new clubs.

The addition of striker Jackson gives Chelsea a nice new alternative since they were lacking in incisive speed in the forward parts of the field previous season.

With 12 league goals in 16 starts and 10 substitute appearances last season, Jackson used his lightning-quick speed to great effect for Villarreal.

In his final 11 outings, he scored 10 LaLiga goals. Jackson scored on 40% of his shots during that frenzied stretch, scoring once every 80 minutes on average.

When the Summer Series begins on Saturday, July 22, Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping that he maintains that incredible momentum at Chelsea and displays promising early signs against Premier League opposition.

When Jackson is on the field, Chelsea will be better able to counterattack.

Because he raced in beyond the last defender in six of his goals from last season, his opponents must work to limit the area he may sprint into.

Jackson can be fatal in counters and transitions.

This is encouraging for Pochettino because the Blues struggled in those circumstances last year, scoring only once on a rapid break.

Jackson, a relative newcomer at the highest level, could have to start off at Chelsea as an impact substitute.

The striker will be a fantastic game-changing option off the bench when games open up and get tense in the second half.

Pace is dangerous.

Jackson uses his speed to slip past opponents, but he also has outstanding dribbling speed.

He tends to approach 1v1s positively on either side of the penalty box, where he will drift.

The Senegal international typically passes the ball to his stronger right foot, but he has also assisted by cutting crosses back from the byline with his left foot after slipping past a right-back.

Jackson’s output from ball carries in LaLiga last season was phenomenal.

Jackson was the only player to score more goals off of his own dribbles, and Vinicius Jr. of Real Madrid was the only player to have more direct goal involvements off of carries.

Jackson earned his 10 goal contributions from carries averaging an amazing 13.6 meters per carry in 1,231 less minutes on the field than Vinicius Jr.

He is a dynamic forward who enjoys putting opponents on the back foot.

Chelsea has put a lot of faith in the potential of a player who has only played at the highest level in Spain for one season.

Though he still has some room for improvement in terms of technique and strategy, his style has been noticed for its lack of fear.

Jackson’s non-penalty expected goals (xG) record with Villarreal last season compares well to several of the top forwards in Spanish football.

Without counting penalties, he averaged 0.45 goals every 90 minutes, which was a remarkable performance.

Chelsea had trouble scoring goals in 2022–23, tallying only 38 in the same number of games.

Jackson carries a certain amount of unproven risk, but his talent implies he has the potential to give the Blues a more competitive edge.
