Match report and highlights: Forest held on for a point at the Amex Stadium, moving off the bottom of the Premier League as Brighton’s goal-scoring difficulties persisted; Roberto De Zerbi cut a dejected figure.

After Brighton’s 0 to 0 draw with Nottingham Forest, Roberto De Zerbi’s record remained winless as the club’s manager.

For the third game in a row, Brighton was unable to score despite having plenty of chances, especially in the first half, because they ran out of options against a tenacious but constrained Forest.

We’ve been on a bad run, and we might have been even more dejected when a few things against Wolves didn’t go our way, but we showed tenacity, spirit, and drive. It was a decent point. If we were higher in the league, it would have been a terrific point.

A Brighton story of frustration

Enock Mwepu was honored before the game in Brighton’s first home game following his sad retirement due to a hereditary heart problem, and the home crowd screamed his name throughout the first half.

Although Forest sat deep, the Seagulls moved with tremendous complexity and fluidity. However, it took them 29 minutes to forge a decisive opportunity when Joel Veltman blasted over from 12 yards.

For Brighton, that was the starting point of a deluge. Henderson was put to the test by a low drive from Solly March, and Trossard then sent a shot sailing off the crossbar.

Then, as Brighton once again failed to capitalize on their control in a home game, Henderson made two outstanding saves to deny Gross and Danny Welbeck.

Forest sensed their hard work might just be enough for an unexpected point as their irritation levels increased as the game went on. In the 59th minute, Brennan Johnson scampered away, but his angled shot, one of Forest’s two in the game, went out for a throw-in.

Brighton stayed composed in possession but lacked vigor in attack at the other end. When necessary, Forest’s goalie came to their team’s aid while playing excellent box defense. Eight minutes from time, Gross believed he had scored, but Henderson’s quick thinking prevented it.

18 of Brighton’s last 54 shots have been on goal, but they haven’t managed to score in that time.

Problems that De Zerbi must solve.
