As we watched the final day of play from MSC 2022, we had to bid farewell to one of our favorite teams, Falcon Esports, the dark horse.
One of the most memorable moments of the cobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup 2022 has undoubtedly been the joy of watching the Myanmar challengers of Falcon Esports crush and eliminate some of the region’s greatest teams. Today would be their most difficult test yet, as they faced off against Smart Omega Esports, the defending champions and one of the finest teams in the Philippines.
Reigning champions show no mercy
From years of observing Smart Omega Esports, one thing was clear: the team thrives in the lower bracket, finding their strength when the pressure is on. This was seen again at MSC 2022, after having already been spotted at EVOS Singapore and Orange Esports. Falcon, on the other hand, have demonstrated their ability to crush those who are stronger than them, eliminating RSG Singapore and Todak from the tournament, as well as defeating Onic Esports during the group rounds. Unfortunately for the Myanmar team, it was not their day.
Although Falcon was able to record a few kills and keep up with their opponents in the first game of the series, it was evident that Omega was the show. Everything was over in only three games in the best-of-five series, with Falcon only able to witness some early game pressure. Omega performed an excellent job of stopping Falcon’s Johnson and Franco choices, knowing how well they had been doing with them, and played the map flawlessly, scoring a 3-0 victory.
Falcon Esports’ fantastic journey at MSC 2022 has unfortunately come to an end, with the squad finishing in fourth place and making the Myanmar region proud. With the win, Smart Omega Esports will face RSG PH in the lower bracket finals in a rematch of the MPL PH Season 9 grand finals.
