With a 9 to 0 record in the single round robin eliminations, LYCEUM of the Philippines University secured the top seed in Season 1 of the Collegiate Center for Esports Mobile Legends competition.
The Pirates were relentless to the end as they displayed an even more dominant form in the closing weeks, highlighted by a daring blanking of Letran, after cruising to perfection in the first two.
Lyceum’s flawless run has placed the Intramuros school at the top of the upper bracket playoffs, making it the clear favorite to win the inaugural CCE title. This would be a fitting continuation of their Varsity Cup victory from the previous year.
Under the leadership of MVP Kenneth “Mark” Delos Reyes, the Pirates dominated University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Altas in a rout that lasted just eight minutes and resulted in a 28 to 2 final score.
Lyceum had the quickest match in CCE, and Mark was devastatingly lethal on his Ling, collecting a 13/1/5 KDA.
Paul Adrienne “Fae” Huang then took over from Mark by leading the Pirates to a 30 to 8 victory over Jose Rizal University with a flawless Cecilion (17/0/10 KDA) performance.
Since then, Lyceum has not looked back as it has put the brakes on the unfortunate Letran, 20 to 0, behind the flawless Yve display of Fae, once more with a 7/0/11 KDA.
Alfonso Clemence “GARCI” Sales (Dyrroth), Marc Joseph “Marc” Balcit (Claude), Ralph Joshua “Alas” Araz (Khufra), and Remarch “Lust” Eusebio all provided significant assistance to the Pirates.
With San Beda, College of St. Benilde, Mapua University, Letran, Emilio Aguinaldo College, and Arellano rounding out the eight-team playoffs, San Sebastian College-Recoletos earned the second seed.
JRU and Perpetual were eliminated in CCE ML series
The best-of-three playoff series pits the top-seeded Lyceum against Arellano, San Sebastian against EAC, CSB against Mapua, and San Beda and Letran set fire to their rivalry against one another in the Land of Dawn.
The CCE Season 1 Playoffs will begin on July 28 at the Mall of Asia Arena Music Hall in Pasay City, under the direction of Waiyip Chong as commissioner and Stanley Lao as president.
