In the end, A Filipino team raised the MSC trophy for a second time.
While the defending champions Smart Omega (who won the regional championship under the Execration name last year) were unable to seal the back-to-back victory, fellow Filipino team RSG PH picked up the mantle and defeated RRQ Hoshi, 4-0, in a titanic finals in Kuala Lumpur.
After the team’s victory, Kiel VJ “Kielvj” Hernandez tweeted his congratulations to them.
The Omega Esports jungler tweeted “Congrats RSG PH BACK TO BACK MSC PH!!!”
During Season 9, Kielvj remained in the reserves despite being a member of the Execration team that defeated Blacklist International in the PH-versus-PH MSC finals last year.
He also did not travel to Kuala Lumpur with the team that Omega Esports sent, which included Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic, Duane “Kelra” Pillas, Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog, Renz “Renzio” Cadua, Dean Christian “Raizen” Sumagui, and Billy “Z4pnu” Alfonso.
In their official social media posts, Omega Esports, who completed MSC in a hard-fought second place, mentioned yesterday night’s lower bracket match.
RSG PH also receives praise from Baloy and Mico
Arvie “Aqua” Antonio, a mid laner for RSG PH, was also commended by Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy of Onic PH.
“Lupet mo aqua,” [You are really amazing] words from Onic PH’s team captain
The insult “pause meta,” which was also hurled against RSG PH and Omega throughout their MSC campaign, was also addressed by Adi Padilla, manager of Bren Esports.
Mico “Micophobia” Quitlong, a teammate of Baloy, used a similar approach in this tweet.
