The fifth and final T20I of the five-match T20I series between India and South Africa is scheduled to take place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 19th June from 7:00 pm. India beat South Africa by 82 runs to keep the 5-match T20I series alive. The final game will be a series decider with both teams winning 2 games so far. India was invited to bat for the fourth time in the series. A sluggish start from the top-order saw India losing their 3 wickets for 40 in 6.1 overs. Skipper Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya tried to do the damage control by putting up a 41 runs stand. But it was Dinesh Karthik at the end who scored a brilliant knock of 55 at a strike rate of 203.70 to take India to a respectable total of 169. Chasing the target SA lost wickets at a regular interval.  In the 13th over, Avesh Khan took 3 wickets to put the final nail in the coffin. South Africa was bowled out for 87 runs at the end to lose the game by 82 runs. It was South Africa’s lowest total in the T20Is. On the other hand, this was the biggest win by runs against South Africa (The previous record was 48 runs that came in the 3rd T20I of the ongoing series.) With back-to-back victories, India will play the decider in Bangalore. SA still has a chance to keep its record of not losing a bilateral T20I series in India alive. The last time when India played SA in Bangalore, they lost the T20I by 9 wickets. It will be a nail-biting game for sure. TEAMS PREVIEW INDIA PREVIEW After losing the first two games of the series, Rishabh Pant’s fairly new Indian side showed grit to take the next two games by the biggest margin of runs. All the talks about changing the squad and Pant’s captaincy have now vanished in the air. Certainly, there won’t be any changes in the final game. Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad will open the innings. While Ishan Kishan is the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 191 runs, Gaikwad is inconsistent. The CSK player has 86 runs in 4 games. Except for the match-winning performance in the third T20I he has failed the expectations. And so does Shreyas Iyer. Iyer has not justified his role at number three. He slowed down the innings in the first two games and couldn’t reach the 2 digit figure in the next two.   Rishabh Pant lost his wicket by playing the same shot for the fourth time in this series. He has now got out 10 times while hitting the wider deliveries. In the last two games, his strike rate is below 80. You just can’t expect this from a skipper. Rahul Dravid must have talked to put some seriousness in Pan’t head. It’s India’s comeback kings who have saved them on both occasions. Hardik Pandya scored 46 in 31 balls in the 4th T20I. He now has 117 runs at an average of 58.5 and a strike rate of 153.95. There is a lot to talk about Dinesh Karthik. Karthik scored his first T20I half-century and became the oldest Indian player to do so. Karthik was the man of the match in India’s first-ever T20I. 16 years later he achieved the same feat against the same opponent. Bowling-wise, India has put in back-to-back top-notch performances. It was Harshal Patel in the third game with four wickets and this time it was Avesh Khan who took 4 for just 18 runs. Looks like South Africa doesn’t have a solution for Harshal Patel. Patel bowled David Miller at a crucial stage to stop the runs in the middle overs. He gave just 3 runs in 2 overs he bowled. He is now the leading wicket-taker of the series with 7 wickets at an average of 12.57. India is happy with Chahal getting back on track. After taking 3 wickets in the third game, Chahal took 2 for 21 in his 4 overs. If the bowling unit continues to reiterate the performances from the third and the fourth game, the series win is almost a step away from India. SOUTH AFRICA PREVIEW Everything is not well in the SA camp. After two victories (seven in a row across all formats) against India, they now have lost two games with the biggest margins. On top of that, Temba Bavuma’s injury in the fourth game has added a headache to the camp. Bavuma injured his left elbow before getting retired. His availability for the final game is unknown. If he doesn’t make it to playing 11, Keshav Maharaj will be given a chance to lead the team. Quinton de Kock will have a huge responsibility on his shoulder. He has great memories of Bangaluru. The last time de Kock scored 79 runs off 52 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes at Bangalore to hand over a 9-wicket defeat to India. SA should send Van der Dussen to the third position as Dwyane Pretorious is not adding value to the spot. Van der Dussen has 274 runs in the last 10 matches, but he has scored just 22 runs in his last three games at a strike rate of 70.96. David Miller and Henrich Klassen have failed to score in the last two games after their match-winning knocks of 64* and 81 respectively. The underperforming middle-order is the clear difference between the two teams.  SA made two changes for the fourth game. They bought Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen in for Kagiso Rabada and Wayne Parnell. Jansen took the wicket of Gaikwad in his first over and ended with giving 38 runs. Ngidi was the star performer of the SA’s bowling unit as he took 2 wickets for 20 in his 3 overs. Bavuma made a misjudgment by giving 3 overs each to Ngidi and Nortje. Instead, he preferred Maharaj who ended up giving 14 runs in his last over. SA bowlers gave 73 runs in the last five overs of the innings. If Rabada comes back for the final game, SA should sit Shamsi on the bench. After all, Shamsi has just one wicket in 4 matches and is conceding over 10 runs per over.  INDIA VS SOUTH AFRICA MATCH DETAILS: Match: India vs South Africa, 5th T20I, South Africa tour of India, 2022 Date and Time: June 19, 2022, Sunday, 07:00 PM IST Venue: M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore WEATHER CONDITIONS With monsoon season starting in India, rain is expected with thunderstorms on match day. The temperature will range between 20 and 26°C. The wind will be flowing from the west at 10-15 km. The pitch is a batting paradise because of its shorter boundaries and high altitude. We have seen many big scores and successful chases at Chinnaswamy stadium. VENUE DETAILS The 5th T20I between India and South Africa will be played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangaluru. The venue holds a capacity of 40000 spectators and has hosted 24 tests, 28 ODIs & 8 T20Is so far. It is the home ground for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kevin Obrien has scored a 50-ball century – the fastest hundred in the World Cup on the same ground. TOSS: TO BOWL In 8 T20Is, teams have successfully chased the target on 5 occasions. The average first innings score is 154, 9 more than the second. Australia has chased 194 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 2019. The team winning the toss should field first. PROBABLE PLAYING XI INDIA Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar SOUTH AFRICA Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks/Temba Bavuma (c), Rassie van der Dussen, Dwaine Pretorius, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), David Miller, Tabraiz Shamsi, Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Anrich Nortje PROBABLE TOP PERFORMERS PROBABLE THE BEST BATTER OF THE MATCH  ISHAN KISHAN Ishan Kishan is the leading run-scorer in the series with 191 runs in just four matches. The left-handed batter is playing at an excellent average of almost 48, and he scores run at a brisk pace as well. The left-handed batter will want to continue his good form in the series decider as well. PROBABLE THE BEST BOWLER OF THE MATCH  TABRAIZ SHAMSI Ranked number three in ICC T20 rankings, spinner Tabraiz Shamsi is not having a good time in the series as he has scalped only one wicket so far. However, the left-arm spinner can turn out to be a match-winner for his side during the fifth T20I. Shamsi bowls slow through the air and have a lot of variations. He also has an idea of the conditions at Chinnaswamy as he was previously associated with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL. IND VS RSA WINNING PREDICTION The back-to-back victories with huge margins have put India in the highest gear. The form of Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, and Dinesh Karthik have made it difficult for SA in the last two games. Above that, both pacers and spinners are taking wickets for India – one thing that is missing from SA’s bowling unit. South Africa is yet to lose a bilateral T20I series in India. But the current performance indicates that this stat won’t help South Africa at Chinnaswamy Stadium. We predict that India will defeat South Africa.
