West Indies are back playing the format they love the most and even though they are without some of their vintage stars of the format, they do appear to be a formidable unit, at least in the shortest format of the game. They have started their limited-overs series against Bangladesh with a bang and would want to inflict more misery upon the tourists.
They are already leading the T20I series and would be keen to add another one to their cap. Bangladesh, on the other hand, will not only want to win the upcoming match and gain some momentum, but they would also want to get their combination right for the upcoming World T20 which isn’t too far.
The third match of the T20I series between the West Indies and Bangladesh is set to be played on 7th July 2022 at Providence Stadium, Georgetown, Guyana. The third and final game of the T20I series between the West Indies and Bangladesh will be played on July 7 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. West Indies currently leads the series by a 1-0 margin.
The first game of the series was washed out due to rain. Both sides arrived in the second T20I to get a much-needed lead in the series. The Caribbean side was brilliant as a good all-around performance saw them outplay Bangladesh in the second game of the series.
After electing to bat first, the West Indies’ batters stepped up and contributed as they posted 193 on the board in their 20 overs. Bangladesh bowlers struggled as they only managed to pick five wickets in total.
The batters tried hard while chasing but kept losing wickets at regular intervals as they finished their innings on 158, losing the game by 35 runs.
West Indies have been very good in the series so far. They have fired in unison which the visitors have failed to do so far. Bangladesh needs to bring out their A-game to draw level the series as another series loss looms large on them.
West Indies will be eager to win the final game and clinch the series.
WI VS BAN TEAM PREVIEWS
WEST INDIES
With Kieron Pollard no longer available, West Indies not only needed a strong middle-order player but also a solid captain. As apparent from this ongoing series against Bangladesh, they seem to have covered all their bases with the youngsters and experienced pros firing alike.
Although West Indies didn’t end up winning the first one as rain played spoilsport, they would be pretty happy with the performance they managed to put out. They were well in business with Bangladesh 8 down for 105 batting first, but the chase never got on as the match was tied. In the second match though, West Indies showed their potent and fantastically romped past Bangladesh.
On paper, West Indies have a side full of T20 stars who all can take the game away from even the best. They are equipped well in both departments of the game and taking on them is not going to be easy. Besides, playing at home in familiar conditions only adds to their advantage. Considering the kind of team they have, all they would need to do is to play as they have been doing. If they can do that, getting past them is going to be incredibly difficult.
BANGLADESH
Bangladesh’s rise in international cricket was exemplary but they have kind of stalled with no real wins coming in for them in the last few years. They have been glorious in patches but they have lacked consistency big time. One would imagine the shortest format of the game to be their best format, but that hasn’t been the case either.
In this series up until now, Bangladesh has been terrible and would want to make a mark before the series gets over. They do have some excellent names in their lineup but none of them have so far managed to step up in the series so far. They have also struggled to cope with the conditions and adapting quickly is something that they would want to learn going forward.
All in all, Bangladesh do have the ability on paper but they have lacked execution skills big time. They would need to get that right and play to their potential in this upcoming match and if that happens, West Indies will certainly have their work cut out.
