Former India bowler RP Singh thinks that Umran Malik may be getting fast-tracked, something that he is concerned about. He believes that Umran should stick with the Sunrisers Hyderabad and undergo mentoring. Malik has been stealing with his furious pacing, plus his performance has dramatically improved in IPL 2022, taking 15 wickets. The Sunrisers Hyderabad bowler has indeed become one of the surprises of the league this year, impressing everyone with his speed and efficient yorkers. He has been consistently clocking 145 kmph, his effectiveness increasing with each match. In the league stage match against Gujarat Titans, Malik took a five-for, which kept Sunrisers Hyderabad in the game. The Titans were only able to return heroically and secure the match after Malik’s spell had been completed. Malik’s 15 wickets now puts him in second place on the list of most wicket-takers. Because of his exemplary performance in the league this season, he is expected to get included in the T20I selection for the upcoming home series against South Africa. He may even go to Australia for the T20 World Cup. This has sparked Singh’s fears regarding Malil being fast-tracked. He said in a talk with Cricbuzz: “Umran Malik is unquestionably a promising young man. He should be retained on the team so that you may continue to develop him while maintaining the strength of your bench. You never know who you’ll need or when you’ll need them.” “But do you want to play him straight away? “I am not in favor of that because he hasn’t played much domestic cricket and has only recently begun to do well in the IPL,” he added. “His economy rate was really low, but he has improved it to approximately eight in the previous couple of games.” “He’s on his way to becoming a better bowler, and if he sticks with the squad and bowls in the nets against world-class bowlers, he’ll get that fine-tuning done. You can keep him on the team in the future, but it’s probably too soon for him to play.”
