The 2nd Test match between New Zealand and Bangladesh will be played from the 9th of January to the 13th of January at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. NEW ZEALAND VS BANGLADESH MATCH PREVIEW BANGLADESH TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND 2ND TEST: Bangladesh defeated New Zealand in the first Test at Mount Maunganui and shook the cricketing world. This was their first-ever win against New Zealand in Tests.  Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first in the first Test, and halted the Kiwi innings at 328. Devon Conway (122) scored a magnificent ton, while Henry Nicholls (75) and Will Young (52 stacked half-centuries each. Mehidy Hasan and Shoriful Isman picked 3 wickets each, while skipper Mominul hunted a couple of scalps. Bangladesh piled up 458 runs on the board in the first innings, with the help of half-centuries from Mahmudul Hasan Joy (78), Nazmul Shanto (64), Mominul Haque (88), and Liton Das (86). Boult picked 4 wickets while Wagner picked 3 of them. New Zealand started well in the second innings and were 136 for 2 at one stage. However, Ebadot Hossain wrecked the batting lineup, damaging the score from 136 for 2 to 169 for 10 wickets. In the process, the speedster grabbed 6 wickets to nail down the Kiwis.Bangladesh were given a target of 40 runs, which they chased down quite comfortably for the loss of just a couple of wickets. Bangladesh will be eying their first-ever Test series win in New Zealand now while the Kiwis will be hoping to make a comeback to save themselves from further embarrassment. After losing the last Test against Bangladesh, New Zealand would look to bounce back strongly in the second and final Test at Hagley Oval Ground, starting from 9th January 2022. New Zealand would be disappointed with their batting performance, especially in the second innings. Tom Latham got out cheaply in both innings and would look to make amends in the second Test. Devon Conway scored a century in the first innings but couldn’t replicate a similar knock in the second innings. He will be the biggest bet for New Zealand in the batting department alongside Will Young, who smashed two half-centuries in the last Test. Ross Taylor, who will be playing his last Test match, would look to end it on a high. Henry Nicholls played a valuable 75-run knock in the first innings. He should retain his place in the eleven and the team would expect him to deliver a similar innings in the next Test match. New Zealand’s strength lies in its bowling department. In the first Test, they looked like a shadow of their former self. The bowlers were guilty of not bowling at the right areas on a consistent basis. As a result of that, they conceded a mammoth 458-run total in the second innings. Tim Southee picked only two wickets for 114 runs, while Jamieson picked 1 for 78. Boult and Wagner picked 4 and 3 wickets respectively but looked far from their best. The fans would expect a better performance from the bowling unit in the next game.Bangladesh, on the other hand, would be brimming with confidence. A combined effort from the bat and ball helped them register their first-ever Test win against New Zealand. Their next target would be to win the next Test and thereby win the series. Given how they performed in the first Test, it would be foolish to think that they can’t replicate a similar performance in the next Test match. Four batsmen, namely Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shanto, Mominul Haque and Litos Das scored 50-plus scores, while Mehidy Hasan scored 47. All looked in great touch and this should keep the team in good stead. Mushfiqur Rahim got out on 12 off 53 in the last Test match. He would look to make a valuable contribution in the all important next Test match. Sadly, Hasan Joy has picked up an injury and he is likely to be replaced with M Naim in the next game.  Bangladesh would be equally satisfied with their bowling performance. All the fast bowlers bowled well in the Test match. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam picked three wickets each. Ebadot Hossain produced a dream spell in the third innings of the Test match as he picked six wickets for just 46 runs in 21 overs. His heroic spell led to New Zealand getting bundled out for just 169 runs. He will be the man to watch out for in the second Test. NEW ZEALAND PREVIEW New Zealand was completely outplayed in the first test. Make no mistake about that. It is not a T20 international where 5 good overs can win you the game. New Zealand was beaten over the course of five days even though it threw everything it had at Bangladesh. There were a couple of important impressive performances in the first inning. Devon Conway scored a century and Henry Nicholls scored 75. They were the only two batsmen that were able to show the patience required to succeed. Will Young also scored 52 before throwing away his wicket to a careless runout. This means that three out of the top-5 scored runs for New Zealand and that is a positive sign. We would stick with one of Conway or Nicholls to be the Top Batsman New Zealand or at least back them in the Over/Under betting markets. An extremely poor bowling performance in the first inning was the reason behind the loss. Bangladesh survived for over 176 overs and literally ground the New Zealand attack to dust. The trio of Tim Southee, Trent Boult, and Kyle Jamieson has been very successful in recent years and one poor performance does not shake our faith in them. The conditions are expected to be a lot more green for the next match and we think the New Zealand fast bowlers will hit back hard. We like Kyle Jamieson as the pick for the Top Bowler New Zealand betting market. His extra bounce and ability to get late swings is going to make him very dangerous to face. BANGLADESH PREVIEW Bangladesh has achieved what many people thought was impossible. Before the previous match, Bangladesh had never defeated New Zealand in a Test, never won a match in any format in 32 attempts in New Zealand, and became the first Asian team to win a test match in New Zealand in the last ten years. It is going to be tough. The batting conditions are going to be far more difficult in this next match and we would actually recommend betting against the Bangladeshi batting in most cases. Bet the ‘Under’ for individual scores for the openers and you can also bet on the total score that you think Bangladesh will score in the first inning. We would bet the score being less than 250 with a great deal of enthusiasm. Among the bowlers, Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, and Shoriful Islam have all shown great promise and should be able to challenge the New Zealand batsmen once more. The obvious choice here to the Top Bowler is Ebadot Hossain but you can think of Taskin Ahmed as well. Both these bowlers will share the new ball and possibly get the best of the conditions to try and take wickets. NEW ZEALAND VS BANGLADESH MATCH WEATHER REPORT BANGLADESH TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND 2ND TEST: The temperature is expected to hover around 18-26°C on the match days, with 55-60 % humidity and 14-16 km/hr wind speed. There are negligible chances of precipitation during the days of the game. NEW ZEALAND VS BANGLADESH MATCH PITCH REPORT BANGLADESH TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND 2ND TEST: The surface at Christchurch provides decent help to the bowlers and is predicted to behave similarly in this match as well. The initial swing for the pacers towards the early half can be seen once again here. Batters will need to spend quality time on this track to get going. The track here is much different compared to the track of the 1st Test. AVERAGE 1ST INNINGS SCORE: The average first innings score on this wicket is 240. Record of chasing teams: The team batting second doesn’t enjoy good records here. They have a winning percentage of 40 on this track.
