The Royal Challengers Bangalore were bowled out for 115 while chasing 145 during their game against Rajasthan Royals, with Dinesh Karthik scoring just 6 off four balls. This is the team’s second loss on the bounce and also the second time their batting collapsed in two back-to-back matches. After losing four games, the Royal Challengers Bangalore are now placed fifth on the points table after nine games. Karthik has remained unbeaten in six of those games, scoring 216 runs from nine games. But former Kiwi skipper Daniel Vettori has something to say against the way Karthik lost his wicket against the Rajasthan Royals via a run-out.  The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman was involved in a mix-up with Shahbaz Ahmed and later on became short of his crease at the non-striker’s end. While speaking with ESPN Cricinfo, Vettori said that Karthik could have made a better effort at the non-striker’s end. Vettori said, “There have been players like that in the history of cricket, they just never seem to improve their running. DK’s in a sort of rush in those first 10 balls to get things going, to get busy.” “He wants to take his partner along for the ride and sometimes the partner is not on the same wavelength. I don’t actually think it was his fault in this particular case. It was his fault that he didn’t show the energy to get back into the crease. But Shahbaz sold him a dummy,” he added. Vettori, reflecting on the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s loss against the Rajasthan Royals, said that loss will hurt the side because the batters did not keep up with the good work done by their bowlers. “RCB will be hurt more as this doesn’t reward a good bowling performance. Their bowling unit stood up. They were fantastic and disciplined. To get a performance like that from the batters really hurts the team,” Vettori said. Royal Challengers Bangalore has to win all their remaining games if they intend to make it to the IPL 2022 playoffs.
