South Africa will host Bangladesh for three ODI’s and two Test Matches with the limited-overs leg coming first. Historically, Bangladesh has struggled when it has toured South Africa. It has never won an ODI against South Africa in South Africa and even its overall record against them is quite poor.
However, this is a weaker South African team than many in recent times and Bangladesh seems to be on the upswing with some very promising bowlers coming through. The cricket betting sites are offering very short odds on South Africa to win. That is expected but we think that leaves the door open for some good betting opportunities to take advantage of.
Match prediction and cricket betting tips for South Africa vs Bangladesh 1st ODI 2022. The match is going to be played at SuperSport Park, Centurion on the 18th of March 2022.
RSA VS BAN TEAM PREVIEWS
SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa is going to play this ODI series at full strength with all of its IPL contracted players scheduled to leave only after the series is completed. This is a huge boost for the team since it has currently won only three out of the ten ODI Super League matches.
South Africa also won its previous ODI series against India, a huge boost in confidence for the lineup.
The batting is going to be led by Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan at the top followed by Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markrkam, and Rassie van der Dussen. That would mean a possible place for David Miller at 6 and Andile Phehlukwayo at 7.
This is a strong batting lineup in home conditions. The easy choice for the To Batsman South Africa betting market would be Quinton de Kock. He matches up well against the number of left-arm bowlers that Bangladesh has and is also very good against the spinners.
You could also look at the Most Fours and Most Sixes betting market as one where you can get good returns without taking too much risk.
Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Lungi Ngidi are likely to lead the bowling attack for South Africa with support from Phehlukwayo and another all-rounder (Pretorius or Jansen) in the playing eleven.
This is a very strong team and is not going to be easy to beat.
BANGLADESH
Bangladesh’s cricketing history has never seen a period where the team was dominant or even competitive consistently in conditions abroad. Even now, Bangladesh’s success comes from creating tough conditions at home and then excelling in them more than visiting teams.
There is nothing wrong with that but the idea that Bangladesh is going to turn things around and start winning South Africa seems a bit strange to us. Sure, there are some reasons to hope.
The emergence of Shoriful Islam, the return of Taskin Ahmed, and the revitalization of Mustafizur Rahman have all contributed to Bangladesh’s bowling attack being better than perhaps ever before. The likes of Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz help add balance to the side with their all-round talents.
On paper, Bangladesh has at least 6-7 dependable bowling options and a batting lineup that stretches to number 8. That is very good but the challenge remains to win in conditions that are not to its liking.
For Bangladesh to win, Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan will have to score runs consistently at the top while Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, and Yasir Ali provide the power in the lower order.
Our assessment of Bangladesh’s ODI team is simple. This is a team that is full of promise but we have been burnt in the past by similarly strong-looking Bangladesh teams. Tread with caution.
