MANILA, Philippines – The Final Four puzzle of the 2026 PBA Commissioner’s Cup is officially complete. In a high-octane offensive showcase, the TNT Tropang Giga flexed their championship muscles to put away the top-seeded NLEX Road Warriors, 118-112, in their sudden-death quarterfinals matchup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo. By successfully climbing out of a twice-to-beat disadvantage, Chot Reyes’ squad booked their fifth consecutive semifinal appearance, joining the Meralco Bolts, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in a star-studded, wide-open race for the Season 50 crown.

The do-or-die clash belonged to TNT’s towering import, Bol Manute Bol. The 7’3″ “unicorn” delivered a masterclass in interior dominance and transition efficiency, racking up a monstrous double-double of 35 points and 13 rebounds. NLEX’s defensive schemes had no answer for Bol’s rare physical dimensions, as he seamlessly punished double-teams by scoring over the top or drawing fouls to freeze the clock. However, TNT’s victory was far from a one-man show. The local sniper duo of Roger Pogoy and Calvin Oftana provided the necessary perimeter artillery, combining for 41 crucial points to keep the hard-fighting Road Warriors from ever fully seizing control of the momentum.

NLEX, who entered the playoffs holding the tournament’s best record, refused to go down without a fight. Even when faced with double-digit deficits in the second half, the Road Warriors relied on their patent half-court execution and steady scoring from their backcourt to repeatedly threaten a comeback. Yet, whenever NLEX trimmed the margin to within striking distance, TNT’s veteran poise shone through. Fresh off his induction into the elite 10,000-point club, Jayson “The Blur” Castro anchored the endgame execution for the Tropang Giga. Castro chipped in 14 markers, utilizing his unmatched basketball IQ to steady the ship, collapse the defense, and make the correct passing reads during the high-pressure closing minutes.

With TNT’s survival secured, the stage is now set for a titanic, corporate civil war in the next round. The Tropang Giga are scheduled to lock horns with the Meralco Bolts in a best-of-seven semifinal series. Meralco booked their ticket just hours prior in an equally dramatic fashion, leaning on the overtime heroics of Bong Quinto and a 28-point explosion from Marvin Jones to edge past the Magnolia Hotshots, 105-102. The upcoming clash between TNT and Meralco promises to be a grueling battle of tactical adjustments, pitting Meralco’s elite defensive grit against the sheer offensive length and firepower of a Bol-led TNT squad.

On the other side of the playoff bracket, an equally compelling narrative is unfolding between traditional powerhouse Barangay Ginebra and the relentless Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. Ginebra marched into the semifinals after an emphatic blowout victory over the Phoenix Fuel Masters, a win highlighted by Justin Brownlee’s 24-point performance before a minor injury scare. Tim Cone’s squad will have their hands full against Yeng Guiao’s Elasto Painters, who have emerged as a dangerous, fast-paced contender capable of running any team off the floor with their local depth and unselfish ball movement.

The convergence of these four franchises guarantees a dramatic conclusion to the landmark 50th season of the PBA. Every remaining team possesses a distinct identity: from the tactical brilliance of Cone’s triangle offense at Ginebra, to the physical defensive grind of Trillo’s Bolts, the explosive young core of Guiao’s Painters, and the historic longevity of Reyes’ Tropang Giga. For TNT, surviving the NLEX hurdle was a loud declaration that their championship window remains wide open. As the best-of-seven series commence, the margin for error completely evaporates, and the four best teams in the country are primed to treat the basketball-loving nation to a postseason block-buster.

The addition of TNT to the semifinal picture sets up a masterclass in coaching styles, as four of the league’s most decorated tacticians prepare to map out their series strategies. For Chot Reyes, the focus immediately shifts to managing the physical toll on his veteran core after surviving two straight do-or-die games. The upcoming battle against Meralco will test TNT’s transition defense and perimeter consistency, especially against a Bolts squad that thrives on slow-grind situations. As the postseason intensity climbs to a fever pitch, only the most disciplined unit will survive the grueling seven-game gauntlet ahead.
