Creamline’s latest victory came with an unexpected piece of history.

The Cool Smashers may have been focused on getting another win in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference, but their dominant third-set performance against Ho Chi Minh City also placed them among the teams responsible for some of the league’s most one-sided sets.

Creamline swept the Vietnamese club, 25-18, 25-16, 25-6, on Tuesday, September 1. While the first two sets were relatively competitive, the third turned into a complete rout, with the Cool Smashers winning by 19 points.

That margin is enough to put the set among the five most lopsided in PVL history.

The third set quickly became a showcase of Creamline’s efficiency. The Cool Smashers opened with a stunning 10-0 run, leaving Ho Chi Minh City struggling to generate any momentum.

By the time the Vietnamese side finally got on the scoreboard, Creamline had already established complete control.

The gap continued to grow.

Creamline eventually moved ahead by 17 points at 18-1, leaving its opponents with virtually no opportunity to mount a comeback. Ho Chi Minh City managed to add several points before the end of the set, but the damage had already been done.

Creamline closed out the frame, 25-6.

While a 19-point difference is impressive by itself, the result becomes even more remarkable when placed alongside the PVL’s historical records.

The Cool Smashers are no strangers to dominating individual sets.

They currently hold the league’s record for the largest set victory after beating BaliPure, 25-3, in 2021. That three-point output remains the lowest score registered by a team in a PVL set.

Creamline has also produced another extremely lopsided result against Chef’s Classics, making the club a familiar name whenever the league’s most dominant sets are discussed.

The latest 25-6 result adds another entry to that list.

However, Creamline’s latest performance was not simply the product of an opponent having a bad night.

The Cool Smashers consistently applied pressure from the service line and at the net. Their blocking game produced 11 points, while five aces further disrupted Ho Chi Minh City’s attempts to establish an offensive rhythm.

Once Creamline created separation, its players maintained the same level of concentration instead of allowing the huge advantage to affect their approach.

That discipline was particularly important during the third set.

Large leads can sometimes cause teams to lose focus, allowing an opponent to gradually work its way back into a game. Creamline avoided that trap.

The players continued executing their assignments and attacking opportunities whenever they appeared.

The result was a set that became increasingly one-sided with every passing point.

The performance also demonstrated why Creamline remains one of the most recognizable forces in Philippine volleyball.

The Cool Smashers entered the Invitational Conference with expectations that come with being one of the country’s established volleyball powers. Rather than allowing those expectations to become a burden, the team has continued to emphasize consistency and execution.

Their tournament campaign had already included a four-set victory over Nxled before the matchup with Ho Chi Minh City.

This time, Creamline delivered a much more emphatic result.

The victory also provided an encouraging sign for the team’s overall form. Winning in straight sets meant Creamline avoided the additional workload of a fourth or fifth frame, while the commanding third set gave the coaching staff an opportunity to see how effectively the team could maintain its intensity against international opposition.

For the players, meanwhile, the 25-6 scoreline was another reminder of what can happen when every part of the game clicks at the same time.

The Cool Smashers did not merely win the set.

They controlled it from beginning to end.

Still, the historical significance of the result should be viewed in perspective. Creamline did not surpass its own 25-3 record, nor did the 25-6 scoreline become the most dominant set ever played in the PVL.

But it did accomplish something notable.

A 19-point victory is difficult to produce at the professional level, particularly in a league where teams are separated by increasingly small margins.

For Creamline, it represents another addition to an already impressive collection of dominant performances.

The Cool Smashers will ultimately be judged by how far they go in the Invitational Conference, not by a single set.

But when the league’s record books are updated, the 25-6 scoreline will have its place.

And for a franchise that has already made a habit of producing extraordinary numbers, that is another remarkable chapter in the Creamline story.
