From one NBA athlete to the next.

NLEX has chosen Wayne Selden Jr. to take Jonathon Simmons’ spot as the import player in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Even though Simmons has two more games with the Road Warriors still to play, following the agreement with team management, Coach Frankie Lim said Selden would arrive at any time.

Simmons is scheduled to rejoin his Chinese Basketball Association squad.

The 28-year-old Selden has a similar NBA pedigree to that of Simmons.

The Kansas shooting guard played for a number of NBA clubs, including New Orleans, Memphis, Chicago, and New York.

Simms played against Selden in the NBA; however, he did not get the chance to work out with him. This was especially true in the 2017 playoffs when San Antonio met Memphis in the first round of the Western Conference.

The 2017 NBA playoff series between Memphis and San Antonio included a matchup between Selden and Simmons, with Simmons’ Spurs winning the series in six games.

After playing for Manisa BB in the Turkish Basketbol Super Ligi, he has just finished.

Selden was voted Final Four MVP and led Ironi Ness Ziona of Israel to the FIBA Europe Cup victory.

He competed for Team USA in the 2015 World University Games, where they took first place and the gold medal.

Simms claims that Selden, however, did not get to play much throughout the season.

Selden was a young man. He did not play that much since there were so many players in front of him, according to Simms, including Tony Allen and Michael Conley. However, he has heard that he is already succeeding abroad, so he is just waiting for him to join the team and make a difference.

Now Selden’s anticipations?

Simms chuckled as he remarked that Selden was hoping to outperform him.
