MANILA, Philippines – Aldin Ayo, the Head Coach of the Converge FiberXers, revealed that the team’s roster for the PBA Governors’ Cup still needs to be approved by the court general.
Ayo called the player a “rock star” after a few trades to open the year, but the FiberXers are prepared for him.
According to reports, Converge has completed the hiring process as it prepares for the season-ending conference. Jerrick Balanza and Barkley Ebona from NorthPort Batang Pier and Blackwater Bossing, respectively, have recently joined the team.
He claimed on Friday that he’ll be an important component of our Governors’ Cup effort and that we expect to have a “rock star” point guard.
The head coach said they were waiting for him because he is the one person in their lineup that wasn’t there. The last one that they seem to need. He claims that if he joined the squad as soon as feasible, they could prepare.
The FiberXers placed fourth in the elimination round of the Commissioner’s Cup after a seven-game winning streak, and they lost to the San Miguel Beermen in the quarterfinals.
A FiberX Brief Rundown
The Converge FiberXers are a professional basketball team that competes in the Philippine Basketball Association, and they are owned by Converge ICT (PBA). The team launched on March 23, 2022, following the acquisition of the old Alaska Aces franchise.
The Alaska Aces would leave the PBA after the Governors’ Cup in 2021, Alaska Milk Corporation (also known as AMC) announced on February 16, 2022. FrieslandCampina, AMC’s parent company, issued a directive that caused this.
A lot of companies expressed interest in buying the Aces or its franchise. The players will be selected in a dispersal draft by the PBA if the franchise is not sold during the current season. The Alaska Aces team may remain with the prospective corporation if it purchases the franchise during the current campaign.
The sale of the Alaska Aces to Converge ICT, which the PBA announced on March 23, received unanimous approval from the PBA Board of Governors. Smart Communications, the company that owns TNT Tropang Giga and competes with Converge commercially, has come under fire for allowing Converge to join the PBA.
The board governor of the team will be former PBA commissioner Chito Salud. Before the franchise was sold, the former Aces squad’s head coach, Jeffrey Cariaso, was retained, the team said on April 2.
