NEW YORK, New York – 2022–23 Kia All–NBA First Team was announced, with Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo among those chosen.

The two received the most first-team votes from the panel of sportswriters and broadcasters, with Antetokounmpo garnering 100 of them. Tatum received 92 votes for the first team and eight more for the second team, placing her in second place.

Antetokounmpo received his seventh All-NBA team selection, while Tatum received his fifth.

This season, Antetokounmpo played in 63 games and averaged 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per contest, all career highs. However, Antetokounmpo’s season came to a disappointing end when his top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs by the eighth-seeded Miami Heat.

During the regular season, Tatum averaged 30.1 points, 8.8 points, and 4.6 assists per game, all of which were career highs. Boston is in danger of losing because of a 3-2 deficit in their semifinal series with the Philadelphia 76ers. On Thursday, the Celtics will travel to Philadelphia for Game 6 in an effort to extend their season.

Sixers center and league MVP Joel Embiid, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic round out the first team along with Antetokounmpo and Tatum. Embiid received 87 first-place votes, placing him on the fifth All-NBA team.

With 33.1 and 32.4 points per game, respectively, Embiid and Doncic had the highest scoring averages in the NBA during the regular season. The Thunder, who overcame the Pelicans before falling to the Timberwolves in the play-in tournament, were led by Gilgeous-Alexander, who averaged the fourth-highest (31.4), to a spot there.

Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers, who was selected for the first time with his new team, received 45 votes for the first team, but he was placed on the second team with players like two-time MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Jimmy Butler of the Heat, and Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics.

Guard De’Aaron Fox and center Domantas Sabonis were both nominated to the All-NBA third team for the Sacramento Kings following a stunning campaign in which they ended the longest postseason absence in North American professional sports. Fox and Sabonis both celebrated being named to their first All-NBA team.

LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, Julius Randle of the New York Knicks, and Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers were also selected for the third team.

Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies, Lauri Markkanen of the Utah Jazz, Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns, Devin Booker of the Los Angeles Lakers, and Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers were notable players that received votes but were not named to an All-NBA team.
