MEMPHIS, Tennessee – In Sunday’s 128 to 112 loss to the Lakers, Morant suffered a new injury to his right hand, which left him in excruciating pain. Morant is a game-time decision, according to Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins, but the team later labeled the All-Star point guard as questionable.

X-rays of Morant’s right hand, according to Jenkins, showed no fractures or ligament tears.

He is suffering from various aches and pains. Following Tuesday’s practice, Jenkins stated that the symptoms were slightly better than the previous night. He’s going to try it out in the morning and start working when he gets here. Find out how he is feeling.

On Sunday, Morant left with 5:48 remaining in the fourth quarter, just before the Grizzlies’ collapse. To seize control of the best-of-seven series, the Lakers finished the game with a decisive 15 to 0 run.

The ambiguity surrounding Morant’s status won’t interfere with the Lakers’ preparations, according to coach Darvin Ham on Tuesday.

Tyus Jones into the starting lineup for Memphis would be the largest change, as Jones had a fantastic nine-game run in March when Morant sat out a tenth game due to conditioning issues and missed eight games due to a suspension.

During that run, Memphis went 6 to 3, and Jones averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 assists, and just 1.3 turnovers per game while producing his first triple-double of his career on one occasion.

Jenkins stated that Tyus “has been phenomenal when he’s had to step into the starting role.” “If Ja is out on Wednesday, he’ll be ready,” says the speaker. This path has been traveled before.

The second-seeded Grizzlies weren’t planning on this outcome, but it can be averted if the series is tied on Wednesday.

Desmond Bane, a guard for Memphis, stated, “It’s the first to four games for a reason. The majority of the time, winning every game is not possible. It goes without saying that we would have preferred to begin it with a victory, but since they did, we will have another chance on Wednesday.

In the opening game, four Lakers scored 20 points or more, but Rui Hachimura’s 29 points on 11 of 14 shooting was the most unexpected performance.

Hachimura reflected on his play, saying, “The way they guard me, they’re going to be in the paint, so I got to be ready to shoot those kinds of shots.”

Bane said that the Grizzlies wanted Hachimura to attempt numerous shots.

We intended to force him to make shots, and he did as a result, according to Bane. “Raise your hat. Most likely, this was his best performance to date. The series consists of seven games. Check back on Wednesday to see whether he can repeat the feat.

With 23 points, Austin Reaves also made a significant impact for the Lakers. LeBron James scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Anthony Davis added 22 points, 12 rebounds, and seven blocks.

With 14 points on 5-of-5 shooting in the fourth quarter, Reaves was outstanding. Late in the period, he led Los Angeles with nine straight points.

Right foot ailments are still an issue for James and Davis. Both are marked as likely.

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 31 points in Game 1 for the Grizzlies and was named NBA Defensive Player of the Player on Monday. Bane tacked on 22.
