MANILA, Philippines – The PBA Governors’ Cup campaign for Venky Jois, the Australian import for NorthPort Batang Pier, has been officially ruled out due to a partial Achilles tendon rupture experienced in the team’s previous game against Meralco. The injury is a major blow for NorthPort ahead of their pivotal game against the Magnolia Hotshots in their chase for a postseason berth.

One day before the team’s scheduled game against Magnolia on Thursday, Sydney Talabis, NorthPort’s physical therapist, confirmed the sad news. The team’s present plan is impacted by Jois’s injury, which also leaves them without a crucial player at a crucial point in the competition.

Jois, 31, will undergo surgery on Friday from renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. George Canlas. Jois will be sidelined for the foreseeable future as a result of the operation, which attempts to heal the torn tendon and start a protracted recuperation process. NorthPort will then need to make necessary roster adjustments.

After a battery of diagnostic procedures, the assessment of Venky Jois’s condition indicated that a high-grade partial rupture of his Achilles tendon required surgery. Because surgery is the only practical option for a full recovery due to the severity of the injury, Jois cannot avoid it. Jois’s injury came on suddenly and rapidly, keeping him out of action during a pivotal period in NorthPort’s PBA Governors’ Cup campaign.

The squad has faced a big obstacle because of the sudden nature of the injury, since they were counting on Jois’s efforts to help them move forward in the tournament. Jois’s absence is a huge setback for NorthPort, especially at this crucial juncture when every game matters for their chances of making the playoffs. Jois will need surgery, therefore NorthPort will need to rethink their strategy and depend more on their home team to get through the rest of the elimination round and save their season.

The NorthPort Batang Pier import from Australia, Venky Jois, will have surgery to treat a high-grade partial Achilles tendon tear, and after that, his right foot will be immobilized. Jois is currently limited to crutches while he heals from the serious injury that forced him to withdraw from the present PBA Governors’ Cup. Jois was hurt during a NorthPort-Meralco game when he collided with Allen Durham while trying to make a shot. This forced Jois to leave the game early, which had a big effect on the result.

Jois immediately stated that he was losing feeling in his right foot following the incident, which prompted medical personnel to act quickly. The Batang Pier campaign took a tragic and regrettable turn when he was later taken out of Ninoy Aquino Stadium on a stretcher. Jois’s injury has come at a crucial time as NorthPort is fighting to survive the elimination round with a 3-5 record and chances of making the playoffs.

Because every game matters to guarantee a postseason berth, NorthPort finds Jois’s absence especially discouraging at the start of the season. Jois is in his second season with NorthPort after playing in the team’s final Commissioner’s Cup, where he had a big influence on the court. This season, he left the squad early, leaving a hole in the roster that has forced NorthPort to adjust fast without their main import.

According to the team doctor and medical staff, Jois could miss the next six to seven months of action, which means he won’t be able to play for the rest of the current season of the following one. This extended recuperation period highlights how serious his injury was and how much rehabilitation is needed to guarantee a full recovery. In addition to having an effect on Jois’s career, the setback presents a problem for NorthPort because they will be without a key player for the remainder of the season.

NorthPort will need to regroup and modify their tactics to make up for Jois’s absence as he starts his recuperation process. They will also need to rely largely on their local players to fill in for Jois as they pursue a postseason berth.
