MANILA, Philippines – Tots Carlos of Creamline transformed the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) into her own private playground in a thrilling match that had spectators at the Philsports Arena in Pasig on the edge of their seats.

She made volleyball history with a performance that broke records and will be spoken about for years to come. It was an amazing demonstration of her ability and willpower.

Carlos broke Sisi Rondina’s record for the most points scored by a local player in a single PVL game on Tuesday night with an incredible 38-point outburst.

But despite her solo success, Carlos never wavered in her humility, crediting her colleagues, the Cool Smashers, for their teamwork.

The 25-year-old wing spiker said, “For me, those 38 points weren’t just personal achievements; they were team points.” “No matter how many points we score individually, we’re always happy as long as it contributes to the team’s success. The team always comes first.”

In addition to shattering records, Carlos’ incredible performance was crucial to Creamline’s incredible comeback triumph over Cignal.

After nearly three hours of fierce action, the Cool Smashers, behind by two sets, battled their way back into the match and ultimately came away with an exciting 3-2 victory.

As she considered her unprecedented achievement, Carlos underlined the value of team accomplishments over personal records.

“I’m grateful for opportunities like these, but our priority is always the team,” she said. “Regardless of who scores 38 points, as long as the team wins, that’s all that matters to us.”

Her final four points turned out to be the most important ones, as Carlos helped her team overcome a three-point disadvantage and win the game. In the pivotal fifth set, she guided the Cool Smashers to an exciting 16-14 victory with steely nerves and unyielding resolve.

“Such times serve as a reminder of why we should never give up,” Carlos thought. “Coach always tells us to give our best, whether we score points or not. I just wanted the team to win, and I’m happy we executed when it mattered most.”

As Creamline irritates Cignal, Carlos assumes command

When it counted most, Tots Carlos displayed her extraordinary skill, scoring a career-high 38 points to lead Creamline to an intense 26-28, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 16-14 triumph over Cignal in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday night at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

The Cool Smashers overcame a steep 0-2 set disadvantage and looked certain to lose at 11-14 in the fifth set, but Carlos’ incredible play helped them pull off the triumph and take a 6-1 lead.

Carlos showed steely nerves when the game was close, using a sequence of pivotal moves to save three vital match points: a push, an off-the-block hit, and a drop shot. Her bravery not only maintained Creamline’s competitiveness but also turned the tide in their favor.

Carlos, who was thinking back on the team’s incredible turnaround, underlined that they needed to put the disappointment of the first two sets behind them and concentrate all of their energies into turning things around.

Her incredible performance, which included 35 kills and three kill blocks, demonstrated her unwavering commitment to helping her team win.

The HD Spikers suffered a heartbreaking defeat, as they bounced back from two set deficits with a commanding lead in the fifth game. Though they faltered, allowing the Cool Smashers to force three deadlocks, the final one at 10, they seized the lead with a five-point avalanche that was completed by back-to-back aces from Chay Troncoso.

The HD Spikers led 14–11 when Molina replied with a hit after Jema Galanza defied Cignal’s triple-block.

But Carlos was planning something else.

She attributed her composure to the team’s combined work and her coach’s soothing effect under the extreme strain. She said that while individual accomplishments, like her record-breaking point total, are important, the team’s performance eventually speaks for itself.
