MANILA, Philippines – Dolor played a key role in the Sealions’ 19-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-21 victory over VNS-One Alicia in the Paco Arena’s 2022 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference on Saturday.
The captain of the PGJC-Navy squad scored a game-high 17 points on the strength of 14 attacks and three kill blocks.
Sea Lions head coach Cecille Cruzada after the match “Pwede ko siyang itapat kay Jao.”
(I can match him up head to head with Jao Umandal)
Jao Umandal may have been PGJC-go-to Navy’s man, but Greg Dolor is not to be taken for granted.
Cruzada wasn’t surprised because she is aware that Dolor can truly perform when his number is called.
And the Filipino Navy enlisted man’s accomplishment wasn’t a fluke; rather, it was the product of his extra workouts, as the bench tactician also mentioned.
“Si Greg kasi actually isa talaga siya sa pinagkakatiwalaan ko sa team,” she says about her volleyball team captain.
(Greg is actually one of the people I trust in the team)
“Kasi si Greg, kahit hindi mo sabihan na mag ensayo, mageensayo siya. Kahit may ensayo kami, meron pa siya para sa sarili niya.”
(Because Greg, even if you don’t tell him to rehearse, he will rehearse. Even though we have a rehearsal, he still has something for himself)
Dolor is a staple in the PGJC-Navy squad despite the fact that the numbers are always there. But don’t be deceived; Dolor may perform any action on the floor, including spiking, blocking, and any other statistic.
Cruzada, the only woman head coach in the men’s premier league adds, “Kaya kahit wala ako pero nandiyan si Greg, mataas ‘yung expectation ko sa kanya pagdating din sa laro kasi nakikita ko ‘yung pagiging leader niya sa loob.”
(So even though I’m not there but Greg is there, I have high expectations for him when it comes to the game because I can see him being a leader inside)
Lastly saying, “Maganda talaga ‘yung laro niya mapablock siya, spike, andiyan siya meron siya lagi.” (His game is really good, he can block, spike, he’s always there.)
