MANILA, Philippines – With victories over Farm Fresh on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Chery Tiggo began its Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference season in style. The results were 25 to 21, 25 to 23, and 25 to 22.
In the third set, Princess Robles stepped up for the Crossovers as Mylene Paat was still battling swelling in her right foot. This helped the Crossovers prevent the Foxies from having a chance to extend the game.
The Crossovers managed to win the first two sets against a determined Farm Fresh team, but they fell down 18 to 10 in the third set as the Foxies posed a threat to force a fourth.
As a result of Robles’ intervention, her side was able to draw the game at 18 all after an 8 to 0 run during which she scored five significant points.
The Foxies now have a 22 to 20 lead thanks to Jade Gentapa, Riza Cruz, and Louie Romero’s successful turnaround. However, an off-the-block hit from EJ Laure stemmed the bleeding, sparking Chery Tiggo’s 5 to 0 winning run.
The elder Laure delivered 13 points alongside nine outstanding receptions for the Crossovers, although the younger Laure led the team in scoring with 14 points on 12 attacks, a block, and an ace. Imee Hernandez scored eight points with six attacks, an ace, and a block, while Robles contributed 10 points off the bench and played in the final two sets. Together, they helped the team win.
At 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, Chery Tiggo will play Galeries Tower in a matchup in which it hopes to earn its second straight victory. during the Filoil EcoOil Center.
However, despite having made six efforts since the Invitationals and being led by Trisha Tubu’s 15 points, the Foxies have yet to win in the PVL. Along with their respective 10 and 9 more points, Jade Gentapa and Kate Santiago both contributed 14 receptions and 10 digs.
Thursday at 7:00 p.m., Farm Fresh will take on Choco Mucho in an attempt to earn its first professional victory.
