The Akari Chargers have added veteran international player Prisilla Rivera as reinforcement in an effort to have a successful PVL debut.
The 37-year-old multi-champion spiker brings 22 years of experience to the Reinforced Conference newcomers from the PVL.
Rivera has earned all 13 MVP awards, 17 club titles, 12 gold medals with the Dominican Republic, and 3 Olympic participation.
The 6-foot-1 winger has experience with 18 clubs in Europe, Asia, and South America. Her most recent club was Jakarta Pertamina Energi in Indonesia for the 2022 pro league season.
The former captain of the Dominican national team was hailed as a “meritorious daughter” by her hometown of Santo Domingo for her outstanding achievements to Dominican sport.
The Dominican celebrity, known as “MVPris,” joins Erika Raagas, Trisha Genesis, and Jho Maraguinot, who make up Akari’s youthful core.
Jorge Souza de Brito, who also serves as the head coach of the Philippine women’s national volleyball team, is in charge of the Chargers.
Before bringing her act to the Philippines, she last performed for Jakarta Pertamina Energi in Indonesia.
