MANILA, Philippines – Creamline and Petro Gazz square off against one another in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference finals in front of a sold-out MOA Arena crowd.
The Cool Smashers tied the series at one apiece and advanced it to a decider scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday by claiming an 18-25, 25-16, 25-18, 23-25, 15-6 victory in the fifth and final set of Game Two. After winning the opening match on Sunday by scores of 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, and 26-24, the defending champion was under extreme duress but remained steadfast in its pursuit of a sixth championship.

Jia de Guzman, Creamline’s outstanding setter, delivered 30 great sets that fuelled the three-headed dragon attack of Michele Gumabao, Tots Carlos, and Jema Galanza, who scored 21, 20, and 17 points, respectively. Jia de Guzman showed heart. Her exemplary dedication to make each match one for the books is recognized and seen by anyone who witnessed the past matches.
In a remarkable run that also saw the franchise reach the podium 10 times in a row, which includes a few second-place showings and three third-place results, Creamline is aiming for its sixth championship. By evening, they intend to add more hardware. In light of the fact that Petro Gazz will also give it their all in an effort to turn things around in the latter’s schedule, Ms. De Guzman stated that they would need to play better than they did in Game Two. For Petro Gazz, the goal will be to win its first All-Filipino championship and third league championship.
