Meanwhile: Baron prospers at PLDT thanks to his relationship with Fajardo
The 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference elimination round matchup between Majoy Baron and Farm Fresh saw Baron put up a fantastic display.
With her impressive straight-set victory over the High-Speed Hitters, Baron—who stands five feet eleven inches tall—showcased her skills. Her performance highlighted the team’s achievements and her value.
Her contributions were crucial as PLDT defeated Farm Fresh with a score of 25 to 9, 25 to 13, 25 to 21 at the Ynares Center to win their third straight match.
With seven attacks, two blocks, and two aces in her great 11-point performance, Baron demonstrated her growth as a player on the court. Compared to her previous efforts, in which she averaged 5.6 points in the season’s first five games, this outstanding show represented a substantial improvement.
Baron highlighted how comfortable she was with starting setter Kim Fajardo and credited their collaboration for her progress for her easy transition into the High-Speed Hitters scheme.
Over the course of their time together at La Salle while playing for UAAP and F2 Logistics with the Philippine Super Liga as well as PVL, Baron and Fajardo have developed a close friendship that has lasted for more than ten years. With the dissolution of the Cargo Movers’ roster last year, they, along with teammate Kianna Dy, began a new chapter in their illustrious collaboration when they joined PLDT.
Beyond their camaraderie on the floor, Baron recognized the critical part that the head coach Rald Ricafort as well as the coaching staff played in leading PLDT to victory.
