MANILA, Philippines – Filipino volleyball fans are familiar with Jovelyn Gonzaga, and she is triumphantly returning to Cignal.
The HD Spikers’ supporters were thrilled by the announcement.
The 2022 Reinforced Conference saw a difficult conclusion to Gonzaga’s Premier Volleyball League career. Even though they gave it their all, her Philippine Army team lost each of their eight games. Gonzaga faced difficulties during that time, but true champions never fall behind for very long.
Gonzaga made the audacious decision to forgo the Lady Troopers’ participation in the 2023 Open Conference. The 32nd Southeast Asian Games beach volleyball competition was the goal she had set for herself.
Gonzaga completely focused on getting ready for the competition since she was determined to make her impact on the regional scene.
Gonzaga had already made an enduring impression on volleyball before the epidemic put an end to the world of sports. While playing for Army in the PVL and the HD Spikers in another league, she displayed her extraordinary talent.
She made her last appearance with the latter in 2019.
At the age of 31, Gonzaga is now prepared to start a new phase in her volleyball career.
Rachel Anne Daquis, a dear friend and teammate, is someone she is looking forward to seeing again in the recognizable Cignal shirt. Their friendship will surely boost their on-court chemistry because these two athletes have a bond that goes beyond the playing field.
In the most recent PVL All-Filipino Conference, Cignal placed sixth with their previous performance.
The inclusion of Gonzaga gives the team a new surge of enthusiasm and knowledge as they work to achieve even greater success.
The impressive pool of wing spikers at Cignal is further solidified with the addition of former Ateneo star Vanie Gandler to the team.
