Choco Mucho and Cignal clash in the fight of the titans

MANILA, Philippines – Cignal and Choco Mucho, two of the Premier Volleyball League’s top clubs, will square off fiercely at the Philsports Arena in Pasig in what promises to be an exciting contest for early dominance in the All-Filipino Conference.

It is 6:30 p.m. when the HD Spikers enter. contest on a high note with convincing wins over the Farm Fresh Foxies (3-0) and Chery Tiggo Crossovers (3-1). In addition to extending their winning run, another victory will tie them with the unbeaten PLDT High Speed Hitters at the top of the standings.

However, a revitalized Choco Mucho team presents a serious threat to the HD Spikers. To tie the Angels, the Akari Chargers, and the Crossovers at 2-1, the Flying Titans, who are known for their attacking firepower, overcame a four-set loss to the Petro Gazz Angels by defeating the Galeries Tower Highrisers in five sets and thrashing the Capital1 Solar Spikers in four.

Cignal’s approach is based on its experienced team, which includes young players like Judith Abil and Jovelyn Fernandez in addition to veterans Ces Molina, Roselyn Doria, and Vanessa Gandler. While league standouts Gel Cayuna and Dawn Catindig excel as playmakers and defensive specialists, respectively, middles Riri Meneses and Jackie Acuña anchor their net defense.

In a crucial game against the Galeries Tower Highrisers at 4 p.m., the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles will try to build on their recent success. This match follows ZUS Coffee’s historic victory over the Nxled Chameleons, which was their first Premier Volleyball League (PVL) victory as a franchise. The Thunderbelles want to maintain their winning streak and make a name for themselves in the current conference.

Rising star Kate Santiago, seasoned veteran Jovelyn Gonzaga, and exceptional newcomer Thea Gagate are leading the charge for ZUS Coffee. Gagate has rapidly established herself as a vital player after impressing with her offensive and blocking skills. On and off the court, Gonzaga’s expertise and leadership serve as the team’s pillars. Their attacking options are further enhanced by Santiago’s versatility. As they look to continue their winning streak and solidify their place in the league, their combined efforts will be essential.

Conversely, following a devastating five-set loss to Choco Mucho, the Galeries Tower Highrisers are still looking for their first win of the year. The Highrisers are committed to turning things around and ending their three-game losing streak. Jewel Encarnacion, a key player, and Julia Coronel, a bright rookie, will need to perform better. In order to get past ZUS Coffee’s defense, Encarnacion’s offensive prowess and Coronel’s playmaking ability will be essential.
