MANILA, Philippines – At the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan on Thursday, Chery Tiggo defeated Galeries Tower methodically after overcoming unfancied Farm Fresh in a scramble the first time around. The team rolled to a 25 to 14, 25 to 18, 25 to 21 victory and seized the sole lead in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference as a result.
The Crossovers, who last Tuesday narrowly defeated the Foxies by scores of 25 to 21, 25 to 23, and 25 to 22, revealed their renowned offense to be almost completely lacking. However, they were more tenacious on defense, accumulating nine kill blocks in the first two sets en route to claiming their second straight victory and taking early control of the Sports Vision league’s season-ending conference.
After losing to the Petro Gazz Angels late on Tuesday by scores of 11 to 25, 24 to 25, and 22 to 25, the Highrisers, in contrast, suffered their second straight setback.
With EJ and Eya Laure on the offensive, the Crossovers had no issue controlling the Highrisers during their hour-and-seventeen-minute match. They finished with 43 attack points, giving them a glaring 16-hit advantage over their opponents who were still working on their teamwork, receive, and net defense.
Behind the powerful Dimdim Pacres, who used his power hits and astute drop balls to help the Highrisers go within one twice—the last time at 20 to 21—Galeries really made a late comeback in the third. Cess Robles’ brutal back-to-back kills, which were the final two points of the game, helped the Crossovers just stave off the threat.
Robles demonstrated her scoring skills by contributing 10 points over the course of two sets against Farm Fresh, which was crucial to Chery Tiggo’s triumphs over Farm Fresh and Galeries. She added three points in the match against Galeries despite spending little time at the service line, demonstrating her adaptability and influence on the court.

But Nabor, who put up a tremendous all-around effort, was the game’s real star. She established herself as a crucial part of Chery Tiggo’s win with her seven points and five outstanding digs. Nabor deservedly received the honor of being named Player of the Game for her great effort. Her three blocks were also essential in keeping Mary Anne Esguerra and the Foxies to an eventual 11-point score.
Like Nabor, Shaya Adorador produced major contributions. Imee Hernandez and Jaycel delos Reyes contributed significantly to the team’s scoring attempts with a combined nine points. EJ continued to shine with 15 hits after previously scoring 13 points against the Foxies. Even though Eya’s performance was a little slower than her 14-point game, she still gave the Crossovers 12 points.
Notably, the Crossovers won despite lacking important players. Top scorers Mylene Paat and setter Joyme Cagande were both out with injury. The team’s depth and resilience are demonstrated by their capacity to adjust and gain victories in their absence.
Pacres led the Highrisers in scoring with 11 points, but the group had trouble offering enough assistance. Audrey Paran, Rapril Aguilar, and Joy Doromal each scored three points, while Esguerra and Norielle Ipac each contributed four. The Highrisers demonstrated their abilities from the service line by outshining their rivals with four aces.
This match demonstrated how volleyball is a dynamic and ever-changing sport where teamwork, flexibility, and individual performances may have a significant impact on the result. The excitement and unpredictability that make volleyball such an exciting sport are demonstrated by Chery Tiggo’s ability to succeed while losing important players and the Highrisers’ commitment to maximizing their talents.
