ILOCOS SUR, Philippines – In the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference held here on Saturday, Petro Gazz defeated Farm Fresh 25-21, 25-17, 25-19, proving that the lengthy journey from Manila to Candon City was not in vain.
Three weeks into the six-month tournament, the Angels’ campaign was strengthened by their triumph over the grizzled Foxies at the Candon City Arena, where they relied on a well-balanced offense and calm play.
Fil-American sensation Brooke van Sickle spearheaded the attack, scoring 20 points and constantly finding her rhythm when it mattered most. She commended Farm Fresh’s enhanced defensive play, pointing out that the Angels needed to maintain composure to win.

Farm Fresh got off to another strong start in the third session, staying within two points at 10–12. However, Petro Gazz’s 8-3 run in response essentially opened the game.

Van Sickle, meanwhile, saw the PVL on Tour as a homecoming rather than merely a volleyball match.

After a long break, veteran Rachel Ann Daquis had to sit out for the Foxies as she focused on regaining her full fitness and readiness to return to the court. They also had the upper hand in blocking, registering four blocks compared to the Foxies’ three, and secured three service aces, while Farm Fresh could only manage one.
Petro Gazz’s defense was excellent as well, taking advantage of Farm Fresh’s errors to score 21 points off of unforced mistakes. In contrast, the Angels made just 13 mistakes, demonstrating their disciplined play. Petro Gazz was able to dominate the game’s flow and win because of their effective attacking and defensive strategies. Despite Farm Fresh’s formidable defense, the team’s overall effort and Van Sickle’s leadership were crucial in defeating them.
