LONDON, England – The 2023–24 Premier League season is over: Manchester United had their lowest-ever Premier League finish, Jürgen Klopp stepped down as manager of Liverpool, and Manchester City had won the league for a record fourth time in a row.

Arsenal came dangerously close to winning the title, Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham, was incensed by the supporters’ desire for Spurs to lose to City, and Aston Villa shocked everyone by earning a Champions title spot.

It’s time to look ahead to the 2024–25 Premier League season, though, before attention shifts to a summer of international football with Euro 2024 and Copa América. Though it’s still early, since the final campaign is still being processed, there’s no better time to forecast what will occur in the upcoming term than when it’s still fresh in our minds.

Man City wins five straight games.

Manchester City is the first club in English football history to win four consecutive league titles. They have won six of the last seven Premier League titles, with Liverpool breaking that run in 2019–20.

City will make history by being the first team to win both the league and the cup in consecutive years if they defeat Manchester United. Since taking over as manager in July 2016, Pep Guardiola has completely destroyed records, thus it’s hard to expect anything other than continued success the following campaign.

Manchester City has already made history by winning the Premier League for the fourth time in a row, and they have the team to win five straight next year. Can City win five games in a row? With the best management, the deepest roster, the strongest squad, and unmatched financial resources, they will be overwhelming favorites to win the title once more going into the 2018 season.

Arsenal, who finished second in both of the previous campaigns, will probably be their main rivals once more, even though Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool are all in flux due to managerial changes or uncertainty in that regard. Thus, barring any unforeseen circumstances, City will win the league again.

Relegated?

Did you say it was an unexpected turn of events? The Premier League has levied 115 claims of financial irregularities against City, which the team has denied. This is one massive shadow that is now hanging over the city.

The football world has been waiting for City’s case to be heard since the Premier League released the charge sheet in February 2023, which covers the seasons 2009–10 and 2017–18. It is anticipated that the hearing will start in the autumn, with a final resolution likely to occur three to four months later.

Although the exact outcome is unknown, Everton and Nottingham Forest were both docked points for breaking Premier League financial regulations during the 2023–24 season (Everton eight points, Forest four points). Their infractions were limited to one charge—two charges over two seasons, for Everton—of breaking the Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Should City be found guilty of any or all of the allegations, the Premier competition has all options available to it; the sanctions may include fines, point reductions, or even expulsion from the competition.

Thus, City has a major year ahead of them. If they lose their appeal, relegation due to a points deduction might become an unexpected reality. We should know their destiny well in advance of the end of the following season.

Arne Slot faces the toughest assignment of anybody in the Premier League for the next season. In addition to leading Liverpool to victory on the field, the next manager needs to find a way to take over Klopp’s vacant position at Anfield.

Ahead to Arne Slot’s inaugural Premier League season as manager of Liverpool, Mario Melchiot offers some advice to the guy.

Slot brings a track record of building winning teams that perform above their means to Liverpool, having achieved this in the Netherlands with AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord. However, the Premier League is a very different league from the Eredivisie, and Dutch managers have had little luck in English football.
