LONDON, England – Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne were on fire as the holders easily defeated Luton Town 6-2 in the FA Cup’s fifth round.

At Kenilworth Road, Man City’s striker scores FIVE goals and a Belgian assists FOUR as the holders defeat Luton Town 6-2.

At Kenilworth Road, Haaland—who had only netted three goals in his previous five games—was performing at his peak level of skill, tallying FIVE goals. De Bruyne matched the feat in that he supported four of the Norwegian attacks.

Jordan Clark’s brace gave Luton a fright, cutting the deficit from 3-0 to 3-2, but Haaland took matters into his own hands, scoring two more goals before Mateo Kovacic made sure City would advance to the competition’s quarterfinals.

AFC Bournemouth was surprisingly defeated 1-0 at home by Leicester City, and Newcastle United’s victory over Blackburn Rovers required penalties.

Man City wins a fun match – To take against Luton, Man City had a formidable squad that included players like Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, De Bruyne, and Haaland. Following his recovery from an injury, Jack Grealish also made a comeback.

And the holders did not waste any time in taking the lead. Haaland scored in the third and eighteenth minutes, first turning in a cutback from De Bruyne and then powering the ball between Tim Krul’s legs.

Haaland had two more opportunities to complete his hat-trick, but Krul denied De Bruyne. Though Jeremy Doku replaced Grealish after he was forced off with a feared injury, Haaland scored his hat-trick shortly later, dealing a blow to City.

With a spectacular 25-yard shot into the top-right corner in the 45th minute, Clark cut the lead. Seven minutes into the second half, he gave Luton hope with a thunderous finish from inside the penalty area. But City found a higher gear, and three minutes later Haaland finished off a square ball from Walker to De Bruyne after the Belgian was beautifully located.

In just 12 games in all competitions, De Bruyne has already tallied 11 assists despite missing a significant portion of the campaign.

After winger George Best of Manchester United scored six goals against Northampton in 1970, Haaland became the first player to score five goals in an FA Cup match for a top-tier side. Haaland added a fifth goal when his low effort got through Krul.

After that, Kovacic’s long-range goal sped past the Luton goalkeeper to close the score and keep City focused on winning the title.

Newcastle defeats Blackburn with ease – After a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park, Newcastle overcame Blackburn with the help of penalties, winning 4-3 in the shootout.

After Anthony Gordon’s goal in the 71st minute, he appeared to have pushed his team through, but eight minutes later, Sammie Szmodics’ close-range goal extended the tie to beyond 90 minutes.

In extra time, both teams had opportunities to win; nonetheless, the result was determined by penalties.

Martin Dubravka, the goalie for Newcastle, was the hero when he turned away two penalty kicks to advance the Magpies into the competition’s quarterfinals, where they will attempt to capture their first major prize since 1955.

Eddie Howe, the head coach, had a good evening overall since he was able to reintroduce more players from injuries, including Elliot Anderson. This Saturday, Newcastle will play Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League in an attempt to go back to winning ways.

Bournemouth is shocked by Leicester – Leicester, the 2021 FA Cup winners, shocked Bournemouth 1-0 thanks to an incredible goal from Abdul Fatawu in extra time.

Both teams missed several easy opportunities and only managed to hit the goal’s frame during regular time.

As the first extra time session was coming to an end, Fatawu received the ball on the outskirts of the area and curled a shot into the top-right corner, beyond the reach of Bournemouth’s keeper Mark Travers, who could only parry it with his fingertips.

Andoni Iraola’s team had a miserable evening as they have now lost their last six games in all competitions.

When they play 19th-place Burnley this Sunday at Turf Moor, they will be looking to snap their winless streak.
