LONDON, England – During Man Utd’s 6-3 derby loss to City, £85.5 million signing Antony disregarded manager Erik ten Hag’s defensive instructions.

According to The Sun, after Sunday’s dismal 6-3 loss to Manchester City, Manchester United’s high-profile summer acquisition Antony disregarded manager Erik ten Hag’s instructions. In order to contain Manchester City’s powerful attacks, the Dutch manager instructed his wingers to assist other players in the defensive alignment.

For the Manchester derby, Ten Hag’s £85.5 million summer acquisition began on the right wing. As Phil Foden and Erling Haaland ran wild at the Etihad Stadium, the Red Devils gave up four goals in the opening period.

Even though United put up a fight in the second half and scored three goals, it wasn’t enough to win the game. For City, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both recorded a hat trick. The Red Devils’ first goal came from Antony, and Anthony Martial added two more in the second half.

The Brazilian, however, received criticism for defying his manager’s orders and assisting Diogo Dalot on United’s right flank.

As was already established, Erik ten Hag frequently instructed his wingers from the sidelines to back up his defenders when City launched a counterattack.

Additionally, the Dutch coach insisted on standing by the defenders throughout their pre-Manchester derby practice sessions. The Brazilian, nevertheless, disobeyed the coach’s orders, and the defense was helpless to stop Pep Guardiola’s team’s onslaught of assaults.

Paul Scholes and several former Manchester United players made fun of the slothful wingers Antony and Jadon Sancho. On his Instagram page, Scholes shared a photo of Ryan Giggs and David Beckham with the caption: “Anyone remember when wingers used to help their full-backs?”

Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez of Manchester United were reportedly said to have gotten into a heated argument following their team’s humiliating loss at the Etihad Stadium.

Meanwhile – Man U Boss Erik ten Hag will not oppose the planned Cristiano exit

Cristiano Ronaldo, a striker for Manchester United, will fight for a transfer during the forthcoming winter transfer window after being denied permission to leave earlier this summer.

Under United’s new full-time manager Erik ten Hag, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has found himself on the bench for the majority of the Premier League games.

Despite having led the team in goals scored last season, Ronaldo is dissatisfied with the Dutchman’s choice and is looking for an alternative. Erik ten Hag is now willing to allow Ronaldo to leave, in contrast to the summer transfer window.

Recently, Ten Hag came under fire from a number of United veterans for benching Ronaldo against Manchester City, allegedly out of disdain for a player of Ronaldo’s magnitude.

In hindsight, Antony gets expensive deal with Man U, September 1, 2022

Antony, who joined Manchester United from Ajax in a deal initially valued at €95 million (£82 million), called it a “amazing moment” after agreeing to a five-year contract with a further 12-month option.

Martin Dubravka, who joined on a season-long loan from Newcastle and became Erik ten Hag’s sixth summer acquisition, was the other player to join United on deadline day. Along with Tom Heaton, the goalkeeper will be David de Gea’s rival. United must spend £6 million to purchase Dubravka if he starts a predetermined number of Premier League games; they have already paid a £2 million loan fee.

With add-ons, Antony’s signing of the 22-year-old Brazilian made him the club’s second-highest transfer. He is anticipated to be in the lineup for Sunday’s game against Arsenal at home.

“Joining one of the most storied clubs in the world is an amazing time in my career,” stated Antony. I’m grateful to everyone who has supported me, especially my family, as well as to all of my coaches and teammates, without whom I would not have succeeded.

In 134 games for Ajax and So Paulo, Antony scored 31 goals, registered 27 assists, and had two goals and two assists in nine appearances for Brazil. He earned two Eredivisie championships with Ajax and a gold medal at the 2020 Olympics.
