LONDON, England – As the transfer window draws to a close, Saudi Arabia has expressed interest in Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, but Al-Ittihad eventually switched their focus.
Al-Ittihad, a major Saudi club, made a last-minute bid for Richarlison after learning that their attempt to get Mohamed Salah had fallen through.
Even though Salah’s agent said he wouldn’t leave Anfield this summer, the Jeddah-based squad made a move for the attacker toward the end of the Premier League window. Al-Ittihad offered £150 million, but the Reds refused because they had run out of time to recruit a replacement.
Saudi teams got a couple extra days to finish their business than their Premier League rivals. They searched elsewhere after realizing that moving Salah was a non-starter, but their attempts to sign Richarlison from the Spurs also failed.
The former Everton player was Al Ittihad’s main objective, and the organization reportedly held discussions with middlemen after making that determination. The maneuver, nevertheless, allegedly ran out of time.
Clubs in Saudi Arabia had until September 7 to complete their operations. A few transactions took place after the end of the European transfer window, such as Al-Ittihad’s pursuit of defender Luiz Felipe and Al-Ettifaq’s acquisition of Demarai Gray from Everton.
Al-Ittihad have been active in the transfer market in an effort to defend their domestic championship despite failing with their final transfer drive. Early in the transfer window, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante joined, along with Fabinho and Jota.
In January, who will join the Saudi Pro League?
Mohamed Salah stayed with Liverpool in the end.
Richarlison only signed with his current club, Spurs, for £60 million in 2022, but he is still an important player for Brazil even though he struggles to score goals for his team. He started this week’s 5-1 victory over Bolivia, but was replaced after missing several scoring opportunities and was afterwards seen in tears.
Al-Ittihad won their first four games in the league, including goals from newcomers Benzema and Jota. In game five against Al-Hilal at home, Benzema also scored, but the visitors won 4-3 thanks in large part to a hat trick from Aleksandar Mitrovic.
As they prepare to defend their domestic championship, Al-Ittihad has been creating waves in the transfer market and obtaining some significant signings to show their ambition. Although their ultimate transfer drive didn’t go as planned, their initial movements were impressive. The team received a major skill boost when players like Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante joined. Additionally, the additions of Fabinho and Jota strengthened the lineup and demonstrated the club’s desire to reinforce its team.
The Saudi Pro League is expected to experience some intriguing events in January. Mohamed Salah chose to stay put at Liverpool rather than leave, continuing his career with the Premier League’s powerhouses despite several rumors to the contrary.
Richarlison, who completed a major transfer to Spurs for an estimated £60 million in 2022, is another player receiving attention. Richarlison has struggled to score goals at his new club, but he still plays a key role for Brazil’s national side. He started a recent game against Bolivia but had a difficult day, missing many scoring chances. His obvious emotions, including tears, demonstrated his commitment and resolve to provide his best effort.
Al-Ittihad has played well so far in the league, winning their first four games. Newcomers Benzema and Jota have already had a significant influence by scoring important goals. But their home sixth game against Al-Hilal was a tough test. Al-Hilal won with a score of 4-3 despite Benzema’s scoring prowess, partly because of Aleksandar Mitrovic’s courageous hat-trick performance.
With world-class players like Benzema and Kante gracing the league and weaving captivating tales for football fans around the globe, the Saudi Pro League promises more spectacular moments as it develops.
Michael Emenalo, director of football for the Saudi Pro League, isn’t giving up on Salah’s move to Saudi Arabia even though it didn’t materialize. The massive flood of well-known athletes under the former Chelsea transfer chief’s watch appears likely to continue.
Salah is undoubtedly one of the world’s top players, first and foremost. I’ve previously stated in both private and public settings that we welcome anyone who wishes to visit the SPL.
