Negotiations with the top target for the Wolves were restarted this week after Julen Lopetegui turned down the chance to assume the role last month when Bruno Lage was fired. Steve Davis will continue to serve as interim manager until the World Cup, and all parties are hoping that an agreement will be struck shortly.

Advanced conversations between Wolves and Julen Lopetegui regarding the managerial position are in progress.

This week, negotiations have restarted with the main target for Wolves, who last month turned down the chance to accept the role when Bruno Lage was fired.

Lopetegui is currently a free agent after Sevilla fired him, and all parties are optimistic that a deal can be made soon.

It is believed that Jorge Mendes, a close friend of the Wolves ownership who also represents a number of the team’s players, is representing Lopetegui.

Following Lopetegui’s decision to reject the role due to personal matters, Wolves contacted QPR head coach Mick Beale, but the Championship manager also declined their approach.

The Wolves confirmed in October that Steve Davis would remain in his position as interim head coach into 2023. It is assumed that he will remain in charge until the midseason break for the World Cup.

Only one win and three losses were recorded by the Wolves in the five games they played under Davis. The Midlands-based team is currently positioned 19th in the Premier League, two points from safety.
