We are just midway through the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup and we have additional queries than there have been at the start of the tournament. India’s qualification appeared nearly bound after the warm-ups, however, the way the tournament has progressed has stunned everyone. The race for the second spot in the Group B of the tournament is well and open and it’ll be fascinating to watch how things unfold over the next number of days. The two sides who will practically be unaffected by all of these events are Pakistan and Namibia, who more or less have already got their sides set. They’re going to be up against one another in what will be classified as a dead-rubber on paper, but will still be of great importance. The match between the 2 sides is going to be played at Sheik Zayed Cricket Stadium, United Arab Emirates’ capital, Abu Dhabi on 2nd November 2021. PAKISTAN VS NAMIBIA TEAM PREVIEWS PAKISTAN The equation for Pakistan following their win over Afghanistan is straightforward. They’re presently sitting at the top of Group B points table with their most-difficult matches already done and that they should simply be able to build it to the semi-finals of this World Cup. Having said that, they’d still need to be at their best going forward as an error here during a dead-rubber might bite back in the matches that matter. With the performances they have, Pakistan has stunned everyone. However, it should not be extremely stunning given the record they have these days while taking part in the UAE. Their 1st win of the tournament, against India, was arguably their most clinical one as they managed to get past a spirited, in-form Indian team with a frantic pace. In their second match, Pakistan did look in a spot of hassle, however, a scintillating knock from Azhar Ali coupled with a chilled influence from Shoaib Malik sealed the deal for them. It was once more a Cameo from Azhar Ali that helped Pakistan as they defeated Afghanistan with an over to spare. In their 3 matches, Pakistan has perhaps seen everything. They were in a tough situation twice in 3 matches, however, they managed to carry their nerves just right – one thing that they’re not extremely better-known for. On paper as well, Pakistan has a well-balanced side that bats deep and has a minimum of seven bowling choices. The only issue that they have not full-fledged however is batting 1st and provided that they might need to try and do that before attempting that in the knockouts. Apart from that, Pakistan appears to be doing pretty well. All in all, Pakistan has punched above their weight all told of the 3 matches going to date, and have the momentum. These are the conditions they relish taking part in and getting past them will be a tricky proposition for all sides going forward, not only Namibia. Pakistan can keep their unpredictable side out of the equation, they must be able to cruise to a win during this forthcoming encounter. NAMIBIA From not being in contention to even playing the World Cup to qualifying for the second round of the tournament is already a journey that the management and also the fans are already pleased with. Having said that, Namibia would be aiming higher and have a job to do. Following a great defeat at the hands of Afghanistan, Namibia does have their work cut out as they need 3 tough matches lined up going forward. In the 2 matches gone so far, Namibia has followed a definite model that worked for the first time, however, didn’t with the second match. Bowling 1st against Afghanistan, Namibia didn’t get the type of beginning they were after, even though the likes of Ruben Trumpelmann, JJ Smit, and David Wiese did not do much wrong. Jan Frylinck was their weak link in the bowling unit, however, given the choices they have, it should be a worry for them going into the next match. Namibia’s biggest playing card with the ball in the next match can arguably be Jan Nicol Loftie Eaton, who was terrific against Afghanistan also. This young leg-spinner is capable of spinning the ball each way and maybe a couple on a surface helping spinners. On the batting front, however, Namibia does seem to be a touch lightweight as they depend heavily on David Wiese to assist them with massive hits required to chase down or set tall totals. Craig Williams and Gerhard Erasmus have done well in the tournament to date, however, chasing or grading over par scores can be a priority for them. All in all, Namibia has stunned one and everyone with their very good run in the tournament to date, and that they would want one thing charming to hassle this in-form Pakistani lineup. However, as seen in their match against the Netherlands, they do have some proficient players and Pakistan wouldn’t need to require them gently. PITCH REPORT The pitch doubled pace with restricted help to batsmen in the recent games. The winners of the toss to bowl 1st. ALL-ROUNDER David Wiese: Another Namibian United Nations agency that has been in fine style is David Wiese. Given his expertise and talent to play massive shots, he’s a decent addition to your PAK vs NAM Dream11 fantasy team. I.Wasim (9.0 Cr) didn’t get an opportunity to point out his batting skills because the team holds an excellent batting line up he was still able to gain two wickets which might improve his contributions on this pitch. BOWLER Hasan Ali: Hasan Ali hasn’t been able to replicate his PSL 2021 form in the T20 World Cup, proving to be costly on a couple of occasions. However, he still presents price along with his death bowling skills and refined variations, making for a decent choice in the team. S. Afridi (9.5 Cr) has five wickets in the last three matches; his best was against India that should be preserved for this match, making him our top pick. H. Rauf (9.0 Cr) has managed to achieve 6 wickets in his last three games with his best against New Zealand that earned him four wickets that may permit him to continue with his consistent contributions.
