TEAM NEWS HOBART HURRICANES The Hobart Hurricanes team, coached by Adam Griffith and under the captaincy of Mathew wade will be playing their first game in the Big Bash League 2021-22  edition in Aurora Stadium, Launceston against the Sydney Sixers. The team signed Yorkshireman Jordan Thompson. The twenty-five years all-rounder is known for his special skill set as a hard hitter, pace-bowling all-rounder. In his past matches, he has made two half-centuries and in the most recent Vitality Blast in England, the Yorkshireman, striking at 167 across his career, claimed 34 wickets in all 36 innings.  This will be the first time an all rounder will be participating in the Big Bash League as he was quoted saying in an interview, “I’m excited to play in the Big Bash for the first time,” Thompson said. “Back home, it’s a tournament we watch with great interest during the winter months, so I’m looking forward to meeting up with the team and experiencing it for myself. “It will be great to work with a new bunch of players and coaching staff, and I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can and playing the role that the team needs me to.” We are all eyes to see how he will fare in the league and if he will be able to hold on to his good form. SYDNEY  SIXERS Under the Captaincy of Moises Henriques and being coached by Greg Shipperd, the Sydney Sixers were the last season winners. But this season, with big names tied to them like Tom Curran and the legendary Chris Jordan, the attacking side of the team is stronger than it was in the previous season.  Champions for the second season running, they made a triumphant return home to the SCG for the only time in the season to overturn Perth Scorchers in the final. It was an impressive campaign made more so by their time on the road. They lost their opening game but rebounded with a 145-run thrashing of Melbourne Renegades. There were some tight wins along the way with a one-wicket thriller against Melbourne Stars and a two-wicket victory in the next game against Renegades. They stumbled to a heavy defeat against Scorchers in Perth but were still able to finish top of the table. James Vince led the way with the bat – finishing the season with back-to-back scores of 98 not out and 95 – while Ben Dwarshuis was the leading wicket-taker. PITCH REPORT The Hobart Hurricanes played a couple of home matches in Launceston last year. The home team edged the Melbourne Stars by the D/L method in the first game, while the Adelaide Strikers defeated the Hurricanes by 10 runs in the second fixture. The pitch at Aurora Stadium assisted the batsmen and the fast bowlers. In the match between the Strikers and the Hurricanes, Travis Head and David Miller registered half-centuries. While Wes Agar took a four-wicket haul for Adelaide. The cricket universe should expect an equal contest between bat and ball in Launceston. MATCH PREDICTION The Sydney Sixers are the favorite to win this match for today. However, it will be a close contest because of the pitch condition as well as the weather.
