Almond Vosotros of TNT is seen celebrates third leg title. TNT defeated Purefoods 21 to 13 and ruled Leg 3 on Tuesday at Robinsons Magnolia, capping Vosotros’ scorching hot shooting performance in the PBA 3×3 Third Conference playoffs.
The veteran TNT guard led the Tropang Giga to their second title in the last three legs of the standalone tournament, scoring a game high 12 points and nearly outscoring the Titans’ whole team in the finals.
TNT, which is coached by Mau Belen, won the first leg three weeks ago. Vosotros was on fire throughout the playoffs, averaging 11.6 points per game as the Tropang Giga defeated Sista Super Sealers 21 to 16 in the quarterfinals, Meralco 18 to 14 in the semis, and then dominated Purefoods in the championship game to bag the P100,000 top prize.
The ravaging Lasallian playmaker Gryann Mendoza, contributed six points and eight rebounds to the playmaker’s performance. Tropang Giga’s scoring was completed by Lervin Flores and Ping Exciminiano.
The Titans made their first finals appearance since winning the fourth leg of the first conference, but were defeated by TNT, as basketball gunslinger Joseph Eriobu was restricted to just four points on 3 of 11 shooting.
Purefoods defeated the Limitless Appmasters with a 21 to 19 in the quarterfinals and Platinum Karaoke with an 18 to 16 in the semifinals to advance to the championship round.
The Titans were able to grab the P50,000 prize for finishing second, thanks to seven rebounds from the fresh newcomer Marvin Hayes. Platinum Karaoke took third place after defeating Meralco 14 to 12 earlier in the competition. Platinum Karaoke, which won P30,000, received seven points for the win from Yutien Andrada.
