MANILA, Philippines – The rivalry between Justin Brownlee and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who are leading the campaigns for TNT and Barangay Ginebra, respectively, is expected to take center stage at the next PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

These two immigrants are expected to lead the Tropang Giga and the Kings’ title hopes in the season-opening conference, which will start on October 15.

Justin Brownlee, a Filipino national who has naturalized as a player, has lived there since June. In addition, he participated in Gilas Pilipinas’ training camp prior to the FIBA World Cup, demonstrating his dedication to Philippine basketball.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, on the other hand, presently competes for the Jordanian national team in international events despite being a naturalized player.

Jojo Lastimosa, the head coach of TNT, has announced that the 28-year-old former NBA player will stay on with the Tropang Giga despite his obligations on the international stage.

Recently, Hollis-Jefferson showcased his talents when playing for Jordan versus New Zealand at the Mall of Asia Arena. Hollis-Jefferson made an impression by scoring an amazing 39 points, grabbing the attention of both supporters and rivals, despite Jordan’s narrow 95-87 overtime loss. The intense rivalry between Brownlee and Hollis-Jefferson in the upcoming PBA season can already be seen from this performance.

The Tropang Giga and the Kings’ PBA matchup last summer was nothing short of fantastic. The Tropang Giga, led by Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, prevailed, winning the Governors’ Cup championship in a six-game series. It was a thrilling contest that highlighted Hollis-Jefferson’s skills as the Best Import winner on TNT.

Both Magnolia and Meralco have chosen to add new players to their teams as the new season draws near. Barangay Ginebra and TNT, on the other hand, are continuing to use their tried-and-true imports.

Feron Hunt, a former Dallas Maverick who also spent a brief time playing for the New York Knicks, will be in the spotlight for Meralco. Meanwhile, Tyler Bey, another former Dallas Maverick, has been selected by Magnolia, who just completed a spectacular 12-game sweep in the PBA On Tour.

Tyler Bey was taken in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, but he eventually signed with the Mavericks, where he showed off his skills.

Feron Hunt, a 24-year-old NCAA Division I Southern Methodist University alumnus, didn’t hear his name called in the 2021 NBA Draft, on the other hand. Nevertheless, he has a distinctive set of abilities and the desire to succeed in the PBA.

With ferocious competition amongst clubs and foreign immigrants battling for supremacy, the PBA Commissioner’s Cup is expected to be another thrilling chapter in the league’s history. A further element of drama is added to the next season by the rivalry between Justin Brownlee and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, which is driven by their previous confrontations.

Basketball excellence continues to shine in the PBA, and rivalries like Brownlee vs. Hollis-Jefferson continue to captivate fans all around the Philippines as they impatiently anticipate the action to begin on October 15. The stage is set for another spectacular PBA basketball season with both new players and recognizable stars on the field.
